I'm not even sure if anyone reads this thing anymore.....
But, if you do, you'll be happy to know that I hoard tabs. I have like 20 of them open on my mozilla browser, including the one I'm typing on. These are just links I've been saving for who knows whatever reason. With that in mind, I give you a little commentary and some links. Sorry if they're all over the place:
Chris Kluwe didn't get dumped by the Vikings because he supports gay marriage. He got cut because he's not very good at his job, and the Vikings got someone younger to do it cheaper.
For real, if you're a parent, I have no clue how you deal with other parents. If your kid is a screw-up and you try to give the kid tough love, without smacking them around, who is anyone else to judge if you're being harsh? Life, while at times great, has its moments of disappointments. Isn't it time these kids learn how to deal with losing and that there are consequences to their actions?
You want to drop the team from the university? Fine, they duct tape over the team name!!
I realize Sandy Hook happened 6 months ago-there are just way too many holes in the stories we've been told by the news. 1 huge piece, what was this kid taking for meds?
How would stiffer penalties for certain types of guns be any different than the crazy statutes that were in place for crack cocaine for the last 20 years? Laws can have an adverse impact.
You don't have to like the author, just read the part about how some violent criminals with bad intentions were stopped, towards the bottom.
Hate wrestlers all you want, just good luck making sure it's not too dusty when you read about Daniel Bryan and a 7 yr old cancer patient.
And now, for something really shady, and really screwed up. Steubenville, Ohio and the rape case that not nearly enough national attention it has failed to receive.
The niece of Dr. Martin Luther King tells us that guns are not the problem.
Again, you don't have to like where the news comes from, but another Sandy Hook question-what happened to the guns?
I live in Colorado, and I can tell you for certain that not everyone is impressed with the legislation just passing laws without bringing it to the people. Sometimes those folks with R- & D- in front of their names truthfully don't know what's best for the rest of us. And I'll say this much, if I were a woman I'd be particularly sickened by the lack of empathy for what happened to a rape victim. And yet...silence.
Yoko Ono kept the glasses her late husband John Lennon was wearing on the night he was murdered. Nope, not creepy at all.
I wouldn't care how many times someone apologized to me, be it on the phone or in print. If you called my lady ugly, I'm knocking you out. Ted Johnson, you better pray you NEVER run into Vince Wilfork.
I'd like to think I'm smart enough to solve most problems. I was raised by two crazy parents, who tried to instill certain morals and values on me, sometimes by word, other times by force. I by no means was a perfect child. But one of the things I remembered learning at a very young age was "if it's good for the goose, it's good for the gander". Well, I would think if the Goose is trying to force certain things on the gander, then said Goose would be on board as well. In the case of healthcare (and many other things), this is not the case. Not stating we the people don't need healthcare reform. I'm simply stating that this idea sucks. And here's how I know it sucks-lawmakers and their aides are lining up to be exempt from it. That seems pretty messed up to me.
I've got plenty of other things to write about-the new job, my new co-workers, putting myself back out into the public (apparently being home all the time doesn't allow the public to see your 'shine' out in the open, who knew?), my trip to Arizona, what the hell people think looks good for fashion, etc. I leave you with a few things....
I haven't taken any steps to do stand-up comedy for 2 reasons-first, I got a new job where I make enough money that ends barely meet. I'm comfortable, and that comfort has made me borderline happy. I have no clue what to do with myself. I may joke that I have nothing to complain about, but hear me out. I've been bitching about something on a daily basis for as long as I could use a hand gesture and grunt. I am the proverbial dog that caught the car he was chasing. Now what?? While I've got a firm grasp on how to deal with failure, losing a deal and not getting the job, I honestly have no clue what success feels like and how to manage that. It is a work in progress. And second, I saw two comics online that blew my mind. Patrice O'Neal (RIP, he was just fantastic) and Bill Burr. Saw some stuff and thought, "there is no f'ing way I'm remotely close to being that funny". So panic set in, any writing that I was doing stopped, and I just put the notebook of ideas away. It may be dusted off again, but not anytime soon. It's ok, not everyone gets my humor anyways, and I'm in a different mindset right now.
For those that think Benghazi doesn't matter, I have a question. If it were your son or daughter, husband or wife, cousin or even friend that died on 9/11/12, it would matter, wouldn't it? I guess that is why it makes a difference. We can all argue about war and why this country does what it does, but those 4 people dead and those that haven't been able to speak to us, the people, tells me something stinks.
On that note, if George W. Bush used the IRS to go after PETA and Planned Parenthood, would you make a stink and demand answers? If you would, then Barack Obama going after Tea Party groups and Jewish organizations should raise your ire, too. These are nothing more than bully tactics.
I'm just waiting for the Associated Press to filet this President. They've been in his lap before he was elected the first time, and now it comes out that he was illegally acquiring their phone records. This crap has to stop. The pendulum will swing back towards the middle, regarding news coverage, because it has to. With this news, the momentum hopefully will start the process.
Last thing-everyone in Boston and nationally is all over Dane Cook for cutting off the stream during the Boston Strong concert the other day. While I can comprehend Cook for not wanting new material to go out before it's fine tuned and for a special, he comes across as clueless. If Aerosmith and NKOTB can play their old hits, then Cook could've done mostly old material with one or two bits of new stuff sprinkled in, and no one would have said anything. Why? Because the show was for charity, not about his new stuff.
.....and I'm out.
