**Note from my previous posting re: Red Sox-they've now had 2 days off to rest, and rest that bullpen. Getting out of town could be a great thing for this team. I'm hopeful, and if they show up enthused to play on Saturday, watch out, this could get really interesting. Damn, I may have to change my mind.....
Last Week: 11-4-1
Season: 16-14-2
Denver @ Tennessee (-6 ½): Denver will be without its top pass rusher and top CB. All signs point to a healthy Titan team. Western team traveling east for an early game? Tennessee
San Francisco @ Cincinnati (-1 ½): San Fran has no other issues than its roster, and injuries to their starting WRs. Cincy, on the other hand, is about to have their #1 RB on suspension after this game and the #2 WR just got busted for allegedly being a pot distributor. The more things change in the Queen City, the more they stay the same. Since the Bengals can’t cover the TE, I’ll go out on a limb. San Fran
New England (-8 ½) @ Buffalo: 2 weeks in a row I have gone against my boys from New England, both times they’ve busted me. This line feels too high, since Buffalo can score. And New England can’t get to the passer. High scoring affair, line seems too much. Buffalo
Houston @ New Orleans (-4): A real test for the Texans. Another test for New Orleans D to see if they can shut anyone down. Not this high octane offense. Houston
NY Giants @ Philadelphia (Pick ‘em): Michael Vick plays, and that turns the tide. The Giants don’t have a TE to throw against the weakness of the Eagles D. Philly
Miami @ Cleveland (-2 ½): Is the Dawg Pound a mirage? Is Miami a better team on the road, or have the doubts started to creep in on the ‘Phins locker room and chaos is about to emerge? Cleveland will show off their 2 TE package (and thank New England for exposing that wrinkle), while Miami struggles to find out their offensive identity. Cleveland
Detroit (3 ½) @ Minnesota: Division game, is that why this line is so low? I must have missed something in Detroit that others think they have seen…and I’d take their money. Detroit
Jacksonville @ Carolina (-3 ½): Why is Carolina favored? Jacksonville Sorry, I reread this while going thru to highlight the teams and it dawned on me that the Jaguars are starting their rookie QB, who doesn’t look nearly as capable as Carolina’s rookie QB. Carolina
Kansas City @ San Diego (-14 ½): Anyone else curious which San Diego team is going to show up-the one that can hang 40 on anyone or the team that keeps both contestants in the game? Kansas City is decimated by injuries and done. As much as I’d love to pick the Chiefs, nothing I’ve seen says they can put up 14 points. San Diego
NY Jets (-3 ½) @ Oakland: Trap game. Just feels like one, and Oakland is better on defense than they get credit for. And please, can we stop talking about HotDog gate? Oakland
Baltimore (-4) @ St. Louis: Will the real Baltimore Ravens please stand up? The team that was all fired up for the Steelers in Week 1 or the team that got rolled in Week 2. Just let me know. If Rams QB Sam Bradford had one weapon this line would be a gift from the gambling gods, but since his guys can’t catch, it will be a painfully close game. Baltimore
Atlanta @ Tampa Bay (-1 ½): Speaking of gifts…didn’t everyone see the Falcons just beat the Eagles on Sunday night, right? Tampa Bay has lost at home and had to have a penalty save them to win at Minnesota. Gracias, odds-makers. Atlanta
Arizona (-3 ½) @ Seattle: Beanie Wells or no Beanie Wells, Seattle cannot move the ball on offense. Like, at all. Why have they not placed a call to David Garrard yet? Arizona
Green Bay (-3 ½) @ Chicago: I keep hearing that Green Bay can’t score that much in Chicago. Uh, it’s September still and nice outside, not cold and windy. Green Bay
Pittsburgh (-10 ½) @ Indianapolis: I knew the Steelers had an easy schedule, but damn. Time to get that running game and play-action passing game healthy against a Colts team that is going nowhere, and nowhere fast. Pittsburgh
Washington @ Dallas (Pick ‘em): This is a pick ‘em due to Dallas having a bunch of injuries. If their star QB, RB and WR (Romo, Jones, and Bryant) play, this will be a much different game. But a QB with a cracked rib? A RB and WR who both haven’t practiced all week? And a Redskins team that can put up points and is flying under the radar? Hmmmmm….Washington
