Week 2 picks

Week 1 results (hide the women, children and the animals): 5-10-1

Yuck. Had I just picked the winner of the game, I'd be great at this!

On to the Week 2 picks:
Oakland @ Buffalo (-4):
In what should be one of the more high-scoring games of the day, along with being entertaining, sometimes you have to go with what you see. Buffalo

Green Bay (-10- ½) @ Carolina: I’m certain folks will be excited down in Charlotte for Cam Newton’s first game, but this is the defending SB Champs and a much better D than he faced last week. Green Bay

Kansas City @ Detroit (-9): Okay, clearly Kansas City is on the list of the teams that win a division one year to being in last place the next year. Detroit

Cleveland (-2) @ Indianapolis: Wow, Indy a home dog to Cleveland. Oh Peyton Manning where art thou rehabbing thy neck injury. Does Cleveland show up unlike last week? Says here they do. Cleveland.

Tampa Bay @ Minnesota (-3): In Josh Freeman I trust. And I trust that the game plan will revolve around more of the running game. As for Minnesota, does QB Donovan McNabb know he can throw the ball actually down the field? Tampa Bay

Chicago @ New Orleans (-7): First and foremost, much respect and sympathy goes to Bears MLB Brian Urlacher on the loss of his Mother. As for the game, since the Falcons gave the Saints a nice blueprint of what not to do against the Bears D last week, I think there will be a huge emotional letdown. New Orleans

Jacksonville @ NY Jets (-9): While I originally thought that the line was too high, Jacksonville will be starting a rookie WR. The Jets want to run. Thank the schedule makers for 2 home games to start off, Rex Ryan, or face the wrath. NY Jets

Seattle @ Pittsburgh (-14 ½): The last time I saw a line this huge was when the Pats beat the Rams in the ‘big game’. But I also think the Stillers will want to atone for that gawdawful showing last weekend in Baltimore. Pittsburgh

Arizona @ Washington (-4): The Redskins could be a sneaky play all year long. Arizona can’t cover anyone, and add to it that former Cardinal/now Redskin RB Tim Hightower will be facing his old team, the same team that dealt him 7 weeks ago. Washington

Baltimore (-6 ½) @ Tennessee: Baltimore, welcome to your letdown game. Tennessee welcomes you with a quick strike. Tennessee

Cincinnati @ Denver (-3 ½): Do I have to? Cincy will pound the ball. Denver will be without its top WR, #1 RB, and #1 DL and CB. You do the math, it’s attrition. Cincinnati

Dallas (-3) @ San Francisco: Dallas can’t be this unlucky while San Fran can’t be this luck 2 weeks in a row. At least, that’s my hope. Dallas

Houston (-3) @ Miami: Texans WR Andre Johnson comes home. Maybe RB Arian Foster plays. Miami can’t stop the pass, wasn’t much better in the interior line against the run. Miami can throw the ball, but Houston’s pass rush is better than New England’s. There, I said it. Houston

San Diego @ New England (-7): Line is too high as I mentioned previously New England can’t pressure the QB and the Chargers have a good one. New England wins, but doesn’t cover. San Diego

Philadelphia (-3) @ Atlanta: 2 things-1)did I miss it? Does Philly suddenly have the ability to stop the run? 2)Will Atlanta smarten up and find their team identity, please? Look for a heavy dose of Falcons RB Michael Turner, if Atlanta is smart, and a ton of boos for Eagles QB Michael Vick’s return. Atlanta

St. Louis @ NY Giants (-7): Like a gift from heaven, I get to choose between QBs. Right now, I’d trust Rams QB Sam Bradford more, even with a depleted WR core. The Giants are in big trouble, based on the infighting I’ve been reading about. Could be a lost season in Jersey. St. Louis

happy Sunday!
