cleanup, aisle 23

No office gripes today, mostly looking forward to eating steak tonight as I wish for 3 of my friends kids to get out of the hospital in various locations all over the country (my thoughts and prayers are with all the lil' munchkins and their parents)....in case you and/or those said parents are bored, here are some things for you to ponder:

Michael Wilbon states that this is where the discussion on race needs to begin. I say to you that while it's an interesting take, the lead is buried, deep, in the 6th paragraph.

To add to the Jalen Rose/Fab Five/Grant Hill/Uncle Tom discussion, I give you Jason Whitlock. Some will tell you Whitlock always brings race into it, and he may. I'm not going to judge that argument, I'm judging the article, and what caught my eye was this quote: "Bitterness is a cancer that spreads." Hell yes it is.

In case you were looking for a decent word to describe the NCAA, I think 'hypocrisy' has a nice ring to it, don't you?

Now on to more newsy type stuff:
I have to check, but here's hoping Colorado has the death penalty. Why? Here. Guy tried to rob a young couple, the young man steps in front to protect the woman (downright chivalrous) and gets killed in cold blood. Guy says he did it and leads them to the murder weapon? Nighty-night, dirtbag. Is there even a need for a trial (yes, there is)? But can we get the short, short version so we can make this quick and swift?

I didn't know that someone had to be told what not to say at a job interview. Really?

Hang 'em all by their toes, and then let an elementary school play 'punt the pedophile' in the school yard. Or is that too much?

What? Could the city of San Francisco really start to see the light? This is how you keep companies in town instead of looking to leave to oh, say, Denver..wait, now I'm torn.

Dear California-WEAK-read the whole article and write to the DA on why he didn't pursue the death penalty. And please, take away any other kids this 'woman' (and I use that term looser than her) may have. Horrid.

I'm putting this out there-where is the outcry for the attacks on Libya? Isn't this another case of 'not our war'? All the regular players (I'm staring at you, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, Washington Post, MoveOn, etc.) are pretty quiet.

Lastly, on Matt Cooke-while we can all sit here as hockey fans, or Bruins fans, and think "it's about time", I'd like to link to Cooke's comment after he received his suspension:
"I realize and understand, more so now than ever, that I need to change," Cooke said Monday night, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "That's what I wanted my message to be."
Dear Matt-how about finding some type of counseling on how not to be a douchebag? And where is high and mighty Penguins owner Mario Lemieux? Cut this clown already.
And to Colin Campbell-I sure do hope your days are numbered, having you as the chief disciplinarian is becoming more hazardous to player safety than Matt Cooke...just sayin'.

And I'm out.....
