Week 11 picks-the rest of the week

Last Week: 7-7

Season: 67-77

I’m starting to think I’m not good at this, but I’m sure someone out there gets to laugh at it, so it’s not all that bad….I guess. Here’s some good news-the bye weeks are over!!

Chicago @ Miami (-1 ½): Well, as you already saw-I bit it on that one.

Baltimore (-10) @ Carolina: Carolina will be starting a QB who just last week was playing Mr. Mom. Baltimore has had over a week to stew on a non-call they believe cost them a win last Thursday night down in Atlanta. I wouldn’t want to make ‘alleged’ murderer Ray Lewis upset. Baltimore.

Buffalo @ Cincinnati (-5 ½): I will get to the Bengals a little later today and why that organization needs a complete overhaul. Buffalo has finally won a game and has been in their last 5. Cincy doesn’t seem real interested in playing, let alone winning. However, they do have 2 diva WRs that develop alligator arms when the ball is over the middle. I feel for Carson Palmer. Buffalo.

Detroit @ Dallas (-6 ½): I love this line. I’m guessing Vegas just fell in love with the Cowboys all over again, neglecting to remember that they’ve only won 2 games. Don’t get me wrong, the ‘Boys win over the Giants last Sunday was impressive, but Detroit is no easy win. Detroit.

Cleveland @ Jacksonville (-1 ½): Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Cleveland.

Arizona @ Kansas City (-8): Kansas City is much better at home, and no one can figure out Arizona. After last week’s debacle in Denver, I expect the Chiefs to be pissed off and hungry for a win. I don’t expect Arizona to much care about the game, except maybe 2 guys. Not enough to win. Kansas City.

Green Bay (-3) @ Minnesota: Brett Fav-ruh, allow Aaron Rodgers to be your funeral director. It’s been real, but Favre is now in the stage of his career where he can’t do it alone, doesn’t have all the weapons, and can keep both teams in the game. Green Bay.

Houston @ NY Jets (-7): Trap Game, I’m taking the points…oh, and I hate the Jets. Houston.

Oakland @ Pittsburgh (-7): I must have missed something while watching Ben Roethlisberger run for his life last Sunday night-did the Steelers acquire a couple of new Offensive Tackles? No? Hmmm. The Raiders rush the passer quite well, the Steelers will not be even a decent rushing team the rest of the season. However, they stop the run well on D and that’s what Oakland likes to do on offense. What to choose, especially with the knowledge that Oakland won on the road here last year. Just looking at who has momentum and who doesn’t, plus I can get points? Oakland.

Washington @ Tennessee (-7): I expect the Redskins to play awesome…for the 1st series. This team has quit on the coach, because the coach treated the QB like crap (Donovan McNabb’s ‘new’ contract doesn’t mean squat, he’ll never get half of what it’s reported to be). Tennessee has its own issues at QB, with Vince Young getting the job by default. I swear, someone in Nashville needs to call Jeff George, he’d be awesome in this offense, handing the ball off to Chris Johnson then play-action chucking the ball deep to Moss, Washington, Gage and later on Britt. Makes no difference today, talent wins out. Tennessee.

Seattle @ New Orleans (-11 ½): There is a chance the Seahawks win their division with a .500 record. New Orleans will have to make a nice run to catch and then pass Atlanta in the NFC South. Seattle just won a road game, which you might think could lead to folks thinking this team has turned a corner. Relax, they just beat Arizona. New Orleans, at home, with a bye week to prepare? New Orleans.

Tampa Bay @ San Francisco (-3): Tampa can’t stop the run-much-still, and the 49ers like to run. A lot. San Fran has a nice 2 game winning streak with Troy Smith at QB. I don’t know what it is, but Tampa Bay is in all of their games and QB Josh Freeman finds ways to win. Tampa Bay.

Atlanta (-3) @ St. Louis: I get it, St. Louis is nice team that has been tough to beat. Atlanta has been fantastic this year and gets to play in another dome. Atlanta.

Indianapolis @ New England (-3 ½): It’s time for Colt hatin’ week! Yet, they are not as good as they’ve usually been when this matchup comes around. The Colts are all sorts of injured, and while it’s convenient and funny to see that there are 11 players on the injury report (that would be more than 20% of the 53 man roster, for those keeping score at home), it takes time to gel in that offense. New England comes off a very nice win in Pittsburgh. Alright, I’ll say it, a dominating win. Don’t let the final score fool you, the Pats played loose coverage in the 4th quarter last Sunday like the Broncos did against the Chiefs being up by so many points. I doubt (hope?) very highly that Patriots coach Bill Belichick doesn’t stress to his team that they need to finish off the Colts. Tom Brady will be at his peak again hitting his receivers against that Tampa 2 defense. Oh, and New England fans—bring it. New England.

NY Giants @ Philadelphia (-3): So that Michael Vick guy, he’s pretty good, huh? I don’t care whether or not you like him as a person. This is sports, and all anyone should care about is if someone is helping their team win or not. What Vick did on Monday night was nothing short of awesome. It may have been one of the all-time great performances, the kind that friends called up each other to ask, ‘Hey, are you watching this?’ like I used to with some of my friends a long time ago. The Giants? Way to lay down last week. Granted, they have injuries piling up on the Offensive Line, and it’s not like Philly is going to lay off the gas pedal this week when it comes to getting after Eli Manning. But it’s the body language I saw on the highlights vs. Dallas. Maybe the Giants are really good against mediocre teams, and their schedule hasn’t shown us the true colors. Doesn’t mean I don’t think that they can’t win most of the rest of their games, but I don’t like their chances in this one, on the road. Philadelphia.

Denver @ San Diego (-10): Antonio Gates is 50/50 on playing. Denver just put up 49 points in ridiculously easy fashion against Kansas City last week. San Diego has awful special teams. Denver’s return game isn’t great, but it’s decent. This is an old AFC West rivalry/showdown. What does that mean? Means a lot of points, sometimes in goofy fashion. Denver can’t rush the passer, San Diego is chucking it all over the field. 10 points is too much, even if it is Denver on the road. Denver.
