So in light of the good ol' fashioned 'wake the hell up already' call I got last week, I guess I've kinda stepped my game up a bit on the job searching front. With that being stated, here is your update:
The call-center job: While I wouldn't mind this job simply for the hilarity that it would bring, can anyone honestly think of me working in a call center? Doing tech support for a major cell phone carrier? I'm sure you can envision me telling off a moron while on a call, but other than me telling someone to dry off the phone and not to talk while taking a leak at the bar, bro, I don't see it happening. However, them wanting me? Uh, yeah. Had an interview on Friday where the guy sitting across from me told me I'd probably make management in 3 months. Gee, ya think? In case I neglected to mention it, I'm pretty sure my lounging clothes are cleaner and better kept than what I saw in that place on Friday.
Account Manager: This one is for an HR software company, they have sick benefits, and a friend of a friend is the only HR person they have. All my information is in. Company is in downtown Denver and apparently they take care of their people. I could get used to that, all while being capable of honestly doing the job.
IT Project Manager: I worked for this company as a contractor a couple of years ago. They treat their employees well to the tune of a 401(k) and a pension. Not sure if that is the case anymore, but I'd be more than fine their dealing with IT projects and all the political nonsense that comes with it. Especially since I've already been there, done that....now they could just pay me like an employee, which would be nice.
Project Coordinator: My old contracting company called me today to tell me about this 'wonderful opportunity'...yet another contracting job. I'm not knocking it, and I might even consider it if I have nothing else going on. But frankly, I'm tired of not having insurance. I'd like to get my eyes checked and my teeth cleaned, on someone else's dime. Who wouldn't? And the idea of keeping someone else's schedules for them doesn't exactly stoke the workin' flame burning inside my ego.
Business Process Consultant: Found this job at a company I was trying to partner with 2 years ago on Thursday, sent my application in, Friday got a call. Followed up today, and now just waiting for them to call me back. If I don't hear anything by lunch tomorrow, I'm calling them. This would be an interesting role, never a dull moment and could help clients fix up their busted ways of doing business. Would really like this role.
BI Sales: If I pull this one off, you'll hear the howl from here to wherever you are. I'm dead serious. I met the CEO of this company at a networking event almost 2 weeks ago. He and I got to talking about what his company does, how my ideas could help (seriously, just talking) and fired off an email to see if we could continue our conversation. Well lucky me, I got an email a little bit ago.
If you have been following this thing long enough, or have known me for more than a minute, you know I wear my heart on my sleeve like 98% of the time. All the good, all the bad, all the joy and any of the pain. Thanks for sticking around, it's about to get real fun.
