Stuff and NHL 1st round picks!

So the NBA might be investigating why LeBron James is sitting for the Cavaliers while waiting for the playoffs. I swear, this is just like the NFL 'investigating' why Peyton Manning sits in week 17. Uh, how about because their teams wrapped up the best record in the conference and there's nothing left to prove? Manning and James are different situations, but who really cares?

Enough of that crap....the NHL playoffs start tonight!!! Here are my picks for each series. Want someone else's take, here's a link to Shitsville....by the way, anyone want to bet me that if ESPN had the NHL TV contract their coverage might be a wee bit better? Nah.....

Eastern Conference
Philadelphia vs. New Jersey
Well, at least everyone can go home after the game, as I think the teams are like an hour car ride between arenas. Whoop-di-dam-doo...anyone excited for this series? Me neither. Devils in 6.

Ottawa vs. Pittsburgh
Let the BS calls against the Senators begin 4 minutes after the puck drops. Here's hoping Matt Cooke gets his ass whooped again. For me, it can't happen enough. Someone should deck him before his first step hits the ground off the bus. I don't see Ottawa putting up much resistance on the ice. Pittsburgh in 5.

Montreal vs. Washington
I hate the Canadiens. Always have, always will. But there is a small amount of intrigue. The goalies, as in do the coaches know who the hell is starting between the pipes. I've read rumors of Caps goalie Jose Theodore not starting in Montreal because the fans might be too harsh. Oh come on, he's a grown man, and he's been the hot goalie before. Montreal will muck this up, guarantee it. Capitals in 4....that's right, I said sweep.

Boston vs. Buffalo
People will call this an upset. I won't. Bruins goalie and probable stud Tuukka Rask was 4-1 against Buffalo. I think Buffalo hero Ryan Miller was 2-2 vs. the B's. What does it all mean? Miller could be the guy standing on his head, but even the feeble Bruins offense is better than Buffalo, and the B's have had some time to gel. I'm taking the B's in 6, in a grinder of a series.

Western Conference
Phoenix vs. Detroit
Rooting for the Red Wings is like rooting for the Yankees and Lakers, it just feels unnatural. The Coyotes are a nice story (as a team, not as an ownership...in a word, clusterfudge), but Detroit has way too much experience and talent. Detroit in 5.

Colorado vs. San Jose
It's upset pick time. Why? Because I hate San Jose. And Joe Thornton. I don't care that the Avs are the 8 seed. They will show up and out-skate the other 2 lines for San Jose, and win the series in 6....damn right I said it.

Los Angeles vs. Vancouver
Buh-bye Mother Canuckers. Vancouver is one of those teams that is really good during the regular season, but you know they don't have the stones to push themselves when the grind of the playoffs comes around. Hello LA....the Kings in 6.

Nashville vs. Chicago
While others can worry about the goaltending situation of the Blackhawks, I will defer and tell you to watch how talented the rest of the team is, and put up damn near 5 goals a game in this series. They sweep the Predators and make everyone wonder why on God's Green Earth there is hockey in Tennessee. Someone get a damn team up in Winnipeg already! Loan me $200 million and I'll do it. Chicago and Cabbie-puncher Patrick Kane in 4.

On a personal note, I was turned down for a job last week due to lack of sales experience and training. I'm not mad about it, because I firmly believe that something will happen for me when it is meant to. But you really can't train anyone to be a salesperson. They either have it or they don't. I may not have a ton of experience in that field, but in 3 months that I have been working on my own little IT consulting gig, I've closed one deal, working on others. And the pub games gig, gee, in less than a month I've got 2 bars signed up. So, am I decent in sales? I'd sure like to think so. Just another company that loses out on a real hard worker. Oh well. On to the next.

Happy Wednesday!
