So I went 1-1 yesterday. But I'll take my one loss, because it was a great game.
On to my picks, and a note about a game near my old hometown, where a bunch of kids I went to high school with ended up going to college.
Oklahoma vs. North Carolina
Look, I know a lot of people out there think that Blake Griffin will dominate Tyler Hansbrough, and they may be right. But last time I checked, Hansbrough did win Player of the Year last year, and his numbers are pretty steady. Also, there is no way on this earth that Crocker for OU hits that many 3's like he did against Syracuse. Sorry, not today. I think UNC wins, convincingly.
Michigan State vs. Louisville
Talk about a contrast in styles, the running and pressing of Louisville versus the bruising of Michigan State. As much as I'd like to take the Spartans, I just don't see it happening. Louisville goes 9 guys deep, and that in the end will spell doomsday for the kids from East Lansing, MI. Oh, and I'll admit it, while I didn't want to watch Michigan State/Kansas after my boys got whooped, it was a decent game. There, I said it.
Now, the game of the day yesterday wasn't Villanova/Pitt. Just because a game ends with a shot in the last second doesn't make it a classic. But this game does deserve to be viewed again, because it was a great back and forth game.
The game of the day yesterday was UNH coming back from being down 2 goals to tie and then beat North Dakota in OT yesterday. I watched this game, and I'm still in shock. UNH didn't look like it belonged on the same ice most of this game, the puck was constantly in their zone (see, I know hockey jargon!) and when they did have it, they couldn't control it.
The only thing that ticked me off was the lack of passion from the fans, I could hear the ice, people! These are my people up in ManchVegas, NH, get loud already. You've had the practice, St. Patty's Day wasn't even two weeks ago. Just watch the NCAA ice tourney, too, you won't be saddened at all. It's fun!
Well, I've got my coffee, off to read the news and job hunt after the games today.
Happy Sunday!
