Picks, and a point of clarification

A damn fine effort on my part, 8-0 on Saturday. I'll get to my picks for Sunday's game, but I wanted to clear up something I put in my last post-I never went out of my way to hurt anyone on a basketball court, never threw an elbow, ever. My Mom would've dragged me off the court. That's not how play in my house. However, I'd box anyone out, and if someone was being a bit chippy, well, they got a whole lotta rump under the rim. Hopefully that makes sense.

Now, onto the picks:
Arizona St. vs. Syracuse
Jonny Flynn to the rescue. I don't think that ASU can handle the guards for Syracuse...actually, that's what I'm hoping. I also don't believe that ASU will have an active zone defense. Of course I'm picking Syracuse-where have you been all this time reading this blog?? They're my boys!

Wisconsin vs. Xavier
you might want to consider not DVRing this game, or hiding the women and children. This is going to be some ugly basketball. Played in the low 60's. But I'm going with Xavier.

Dayton vs. Kansas
Kansas just doesn't impress me all that much. Yes, they did an amazing job this season after losing 5 guys to the NBA or overseas, but that means nothing right now. Dayton is a very good team, and could give the Jayhawks fits in the halfcourt game. However, Cole Aldrich is too much in the middle, Kansas pulls away late, by 10.

Cleveland St. vs. Arizona
I'm taking Cleveland St. It's strictly a hunch, but I have to go with my gut on this one.

Oklahoma State vs. Pittsburgh
Now this game is going to be fun. Kind of like a football game, it will be physical, but the athletes will shine in this one. I'm going with Pitt, and DeJuan Blair becomes a household name with a 20/15 game.

Marquette vs. Missouri
I feel bad for Marquette, really I do. They would be so much better with a healthy senior PG. It shows up how much they miss him in this game, with Missouri pressing Marquette into numerous turnovers, and winning this game going away.

USC vs. Michigan State
Damn, shouldn't this be a Rose Bowl game? As good as Michigan State was all season, I think it's buh-bye time after running into USC. The Trojans play awesome D, and Taj Gibson is a player that MSU has no experience against. Sorry Big 10 champ, you're done in this one.

Siena vs. Louisville
I'll take Louisville in this game, but not after Siena puts a very large scare into the kids from Freedom Hall in the first half.

I doubt I go 8-0 with these picks, but I think I'll be getting better as the tournament goes.

Happy Sunday!
