more stuff....yeah

Just a few things before I head off to bed....we have a new reader amongst the 3 of you. And they've made a request....more hockey (as if I know a whole lot about hockey...great to watch live, I'll give it that). So I assure you that there will be hockey at the end of this.

Take a look at this picture from A-Roid's press conference. So many quotes, so much time...fill in your own. Andy Pettitte looks like he's thinking pretzels are coming. Best part of the whole goofy press conference-he never answered the basic question. My favorite part is throwing his cousin under the bus. It's a classic tactic-done by socialists and liberals-blame someone else. God forbid we have any accountability.

Speaking of steriods, hahaha to all the Barry Bonds haters out there. Seems as though some evidence is getting tossed from the case. I wonder how much taxpayer money has been spent on this witch hunt.

Lastly on the steriod front, here's a sweet blog about wrestling...ah, the male redneck soap opera.

Brainiacs at another university manages to think their rules are more legal than the law. Unreal. School owes the guy a serious apology. Oh, and maybe thanks for being a Marine...jackasses.

Seriously, pull up your damn pants! I hope the cops laughed while they were cuffing this idiot.

This is hysterial. Please, Rick Santelli run for Illinois Senator--once Burris gets bounced of course. Oh the fun we'll have on Capitol Hill if this came true.

Alrighty, I'm beat, but for the hockey folk, here's an interview with Ovechkin after his sweet goal the other night...and it's already translated!

Happy Friday to all you working stiffs, I'll have more later on in the day.

so much to gnaw on....

Well, now that the drama has subsided and we're past that lovely Hallmark holiday of St. Valentine's Day, back down to business. And boy, are there a lot of things to cover.

I've been relatively quiet about this latest revelation that Alex Rodriguez did steriods. I wish I could say I was shocked. As much as I would love to cancel my subscription to SI-since every stinking week they have to somehow sneak a mention of Obama in there-I'm glad I got this issue. I'm still not done reading it yet, and there is a whole lot to soak in, but I guess I think what I've always thought of A-Roid; that he's that guy who's always trying to fit in at the party, wonders what people think of him and how he fits, tries a little too hard to be cool. Now, I'm not saying that he would not have been great without the steriods, because I honestly think he would be. However, if he truly thinks anyone believes him when he states he's not on anything currently-well, let's just say I have some waterfront property in Denver to sell you. I think later this coming week I will go piece by piece with this ridiculous stuff that's been going on. But I think Bud Selig should be taken to task, but the people that could do a fantastic job of this over at ESPN don't have the stones. I'm not the only one that thinks this.

Jason Whitlock wrote two different articles this week, and after I read the first one, I was quite peeved, as it seemed he was making a racist claim. He then went on to clarify it in his second article, not sure what you think of it. I'm not mad at him, but I do think the comments left for him are quite funny, and in some cases, downright bigoted. What I think is that there are some people out there who don't think it's okay to put yourself in someone else's place, and I disagree. I used to be jealous of all sorts of people, and then one day it dawned on me that either they were blessed with certain ability and honed that particular skillset, or they were blessed. Either way, good for them. But I knew kids in my high school that were on some type of stuff, even got college scholarships to play ball because of it. I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing. But much like Whitlock mentions, we all knew. You knew when you were playing against someone if they were on something. You also kind of knew if they were just older, stronger and faster than you. I wasn't fast, ever, at anything. But I did try awfully hard, and was captain of a few teams. Just my niche. I don't begrudge anyone their success. I just hope that they realize how they got there, and who helped them get there, be it a parent in the stands everyday, a coach who put in extra time, or a scientist who made a concoction and then plunged a needle into their butt to make them hit the ball farther. Best of luck, really.
But there is one person out there who has a beef, and honestly, he can hold his head high. I just wonder if he takes his kids to ballgames now, don't you? What's ticking me off about this is I remember hearing rumblings about this stuff, and I remember John Smoltz a few years later saying virtually the same stuff, and yet no one in the Players Union stood up and did anything about it. There's even a part of the article in SI which quotes someone stating that steriods were no bigger an effect on players than cigarettes. That statement, if you read it again, is just as dumb as it sounds out loud. My old man died from 42 years of smoking, I'm pretty sure if he did steriods it would have been faster, moron.

And this notion from Bud Selig is preposterous, especially now after Hank Aaron has stated that the home run record belongs to Barry Bonds. Why is the media, and even Selig, only going after Bonds? A-Rod is just a disappointment now? The guy won an MVP in Texas in 2003 while on 2 different types of steriods. If you want a good laugh, check out the 2003 MVP voting-and then in the top 10 for both the AL & NL, you tell me who you think wasn't on something.

For something funny, check out this article by Ken Rosenthal discussing all the issues that the Yankees have to look forward to. All I kept hearing about before spring training was all the money they spent...and it could be all for nought.

This may be the weirdest thing I've ever seen. I hope both coaches filed the game under protest before all of this crap took place. 17 free throws???

Alright, before I get to a great story that will do some uplifting of the heart, because we need it now more than ever, I will tell you that I am getting on a plane to Boston in a couple of weeks, for 2 reasons-1)to go see her and see my people, and 2)I've got interviews set up already. Wish me luck on the first part of this, because the second part will be on my shoulders, and I can't predict what someone can say on the first part. Hope that makes sense.

Here's an awesome story about a kid who took a project to the next level-5 years old and he has more good in his heart than 10 adults, seriously!

Happy Sunday to ya!

and the laughing continues

So the job hunt was barely anything. I'm booking my trip to Boston in the next day or two and trying to set up interviews for when I'm out there. Kind of cool. And yes, there'll be plenty of time for me to hang out with people.

The only person I'm really concerned about right now is my baby brother. He's down in the dumps the last few days, between not working, my Dad passing away 3 months ago and he and his lady breaking up after 3 years. It's a lot to take, and when you have idle time, it's not always the best thing...sometimes you can tend to dwell on things. So all I can do is tell him I'm there for him. He doesn't feel like talking right now, and I'm not about to press him. He could crumble if I hit him hard for info. So I think I'll ping my Mom tomorrow to give him a hug and make him some chocolate chip cookies. I know he's 27, but that would cheer him up, even if only for a moment.

I know tomorrow will be a better day than today. I hope you all have a fantastic Wednesday!

I don't know how to quit laughing at this

Really, some people are surprised that A-Rod was juicing? I think there are some media types that need to go on their hands and knees and apologize to one Jose Canseco. Guess he was right after all, now wasn't he?

Way to jump all over a student that actually shows up all day, every day. God forbid you get the dirtbags who are interrupting class out of school. No, get the kid with wooden facsimiles of guns.

More from Neal Boortz about the absolute hypocrisy of some politicians:

We have yet another moonbat senator to add to the list: Michigan Democrat Senator Debbie Stabenow. This woman thinks that right now would be the perfect time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine. Interviewed on a talk show yesterday, Stabenow said, "I think it's absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it's called the Fairness Doctrine or something else - I absolutely think it's time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place."

If Stabenow gets her way we could expect these hearings as soon as this year.

Me? Thanks for asking. I'm loving this. I welcome the hearings - and I relish a Democrat-led attack on talk radio. Can you say "more listeners?" With more listeners come higher ratings, and with higher ratings come higher prices for advertising .. and with more money comes ...well, you connect the dots. There is one problem though, since the hearings will be conducted by Democrats you can rest assured that the list of witnesses will be tightly controlled. It is highly doubtful you'll hear any testimony from experts who can tell these hacks that leftist talk radio fails simply because people can't stand listening to that dogsqueeze. Left wing talk radio, with a few exceptions such as Ed Schultz and Stephanie Miller, does not get ratings. Two viable hosts cannot keep the genre afloat. No ratings - no advertising. Therefore it loses money. How simple is this? Look ... the left-wing talk radio station in Washington DC, for goodness' sake, just flipped formats. This station even used "Obama" in its title. If left-wing "Obama" talk radio can't make it in DC, where can it succeed? Well, there's always Madison, Wisconsin.

Oh and by the way, this might be of some slight interest to you. Stabenow is married to the co-founder of TalkUSA Radio network and is now the Vice President of ... wait for it .. Air America.

Here's the best part, her hubby can get pinched for soliciting a prostitute, and she gets the book tossed at her, but him, he's good. Tell me again how there aren't at least 2 sets of rules out there for people. Hell with the haves and the have nots, this is about those wielding politcal power over those that don't have that kind of pull.

Here's yet another example of hypocrisy, this time in the sports world. So ESPN has all this talent, and they tell the one guy I can tolerate, Scott Van Pelt, that he was too hard on Bud Selig on his radio show. Think that this has anything to do with ESPN's MLB TV contract, do you? So much for journalistic integrity. Way to stick up for your guys, ESPN. Once again ESPN has thrust itself as the news rather than reporting it. I barely watch it anymore and I can only read a few of the columnists, because it's just too pathetic to handle.

Enjoy your Sunday....and know that this isn't going to be the last we'll hear about steriods, not by a long shot.

Continuation from Yesterday

So I'm kind of glad I stopped writing when I did. I woke up super-pissy yesterday, thanks to the security company moving and towing a car right outside my window...at 3 AM!!! And to think, I had gone to bed early to get a jump start on what could be a big day....

After I woke up I was given a lovely option to go down the street to that coffee shop, which was great, but I got a phone call on the way, my chance at a temp gig was officially over. It seems as though they went with someone who was half my bill rate and half as smart. You get what you pay for, quite frankly.

So now it will be time for me to file for unemployment...wooohoo! There are still a few other irons in the fire, but I'm not truly jazzed about them. Nothing is truly exciting me. Can I just get paid to do this...please?

This would be hysterical if it weren't true. Way to hold up the Constitution, there, school board. This is creeping right into Orwellian territory--you cannot control speech. When you control speech and you control language, that's when you begin to control thought. Good for these people for standing up to the machine, I hope they win. By the way, I love the word 'Douche', it always makes me laugh.

Finally, someone stands up and says what we all have wanted to say about a boss who is there in title only. How many of us have been there? Where the 'Boss' is never the go-to person, allows to have his/her power usurped, is lax in judgement, or even worse, lazy? How about showing up on time to meetings? A huge pet peeve of mine. You want my respect? Fine, show up to your meeting on time. I've got crap to do, too.

From Neal Boortz, radio talk show host---I can't even try to say it better than this:
Obama's labor secretary, California Democrat Rep. Hilda Solis. As of right now, her nomination is being blocked in the Senate. Any guesses as to why?

Well to start .. though this not why she is being blocked .. Hilda was a co-sponsor in 2007 of this asinine card check bill, otherwise known as the "Employee Free Choice Act." This would essentially destroy secret ballot union elections in this country. She was also the co-sponsor of another bill that would force states to allow public safety officers to form unions.

But here's where it gets interesting. At the time that Hilda was co-sponsoring all of these union bills, she was the board member of a pro-union organization called American Rights at Work. This organization had been lobbying Congress to pass these bills .. the very ones that she was responsible for co-sponsoring. And not only was Hilda a director of this organization, but we have now come to find out that she was actually the treasurer. She was in charge of all of the spending by this organization. And if that isn't bad enough, she did not reveal this information on any House financial disclosure forms.

So here we have a woman, nominated by Barack Obama to be the Secretary of Labor. She co-sponsors two union bills in the House. At the time that she is working - basically as a lobbyist -- to get these bills passed in the House, she is also the treasurer of a lobbying group that is working to gain support for her co-sponsored legislation. And then on top of it all, she kept her involvement in the lobbying firm a secret. That was until now, that she is nominated to be secretary of labor.

Just making sure you're all aware of this blatant conflict of interest/hypocrisy. So much for Change we can believe in.

Interesting take on Michael Phelps. Quite frankly I hope he tells the USOC to pound sand and never competes again. Be selfish. The kid has been in the pool his whole life. Pot is not a gateway drug, and there's nothing wrong with. I've done it. Made me mellow and want to take a nap. Not the worst reaction in the world. I hate the holier than thou routine. Our last 2 Presidents and our current one have done drugs. Get over yourself. Most people try it once. Some people get way too involved in the culture. That's their choice. And boycott Kellogg's for ending their deal with Phelps. Nike and Guitar Hero can have a deal with a rapist, but a bong hit's a bad thing....right.

I don't know about you, but I need some good news. I've been searching for it for what seems like months now. But I've found it. I defy you to read and watch this and not get bleery-eyed. Nice to know that there are still some great stories out there. The human element isn't dead just yet...Thank goodness.

Everyone have a great weekend, I'm sure I'll write something, but the 'Cuse is on at 10 AM tomorrow!

live from a coffee shop

That's right, we're going mobile today! Woohoo. I'm with my trusty sidekick, or maybe I'm his trusty sidekick-I digress-my roommate and I are 'working' from a Panera Bread...ymmmm, bagel and coffee, laptop all fired up, and we're good to go.

I assure you, I will be tackling the whole Barry Bonds issue, but I'm kind of wondering why he's tops in the sports news but Roger Clemens has fallen to the back burner. Which evidence is more damning to you, blood in a syringe or a piss test? Look, they're both guilty, but blood in a syringe after going in front of Congress kind of means a bit more to me. Of course, since I hate the Rocket, I want him to face his charges, too. I may even bring up the charge of racism in the media.

More later.....

it's an Update

So here's some updates for you---Got my first official rejection today. It came via email after less than 8 hours. It was a job out in Boston, just not experienced enough, apparently. I'm always amazed that some people can't spend 10 minutes to call and figure that out. Just by 2 pages of a resume. Oh well, on to the next.

Just a question that I've kind of been wondering...if Dick Cheney has been stuffing his pockets with all these war contracts, is it okay that Tom Daschle cheated on his taxes? I guess what I'm asking is what how come he calls it a mistake, but Cheney is considered a criminal? So does someone else.

Just in case anyone was curious, here's what could happen to unemployment if this 'stimulus' goes through. It's going to get a whole lot worse before it will get better.

RB Larry Johnson is already complaining that he wants out of KC...uh, Larry, you're a now old, damaged, bitchy RB with a huge contract. Who wants you? Better yet, you have a new GM who has yet to hire a new head coach, or make any other roster moves. Here's a nutty thought, why don't you wait it out until the draft you self-aggrandizing turd? You hit woman harder than you hit the hole. I guarantee you that if your new GM Scott Pioli can move you for a 3rd or 4th round pick, he'll help you pack. A little note to all NFL GM's...there is no need to spend a 1st round pick on the position of RB. Check the rosters, and you'll be amazed at who some of the fantastic RB's are. And a ton of them aren't drafted in the 1st round. Spend your draft money on Offensive and Defensive linemen. You're welcome.

My boys at the 'Cuse had to make it interesting tonight. I know it will say on the scoreboard that they beat West Virginia by 13, but it never really felt like it was over until the buzzer. They need to get healthy for the stretch run, and I think their starting center needs to sit out the next game or two...or when they have a week off next.

Duke got smoked tonight. I've never seen them this disjointed. They looked flustered the whole time I watched them, couldn't break a very good press, and got worked in every way possible. I hope for their sake that they just forget about this game.

Anyone else see Ray Allen nail the game-winner last night? Put him on the damn All-Star team already, this is ridiculous.

Off to bed and back to the hunt tomorrow!

and again and again

So, again, the job hunt is a bit slow. But I've devised a plan!! I should actually write down what the heck I'm going to do for the next day. I know, I know, novel concept. I'm going to have to force myself to get into a groove. Now to the news:

While my favorite college team is and always will be Syracuse, I've always had a soft spot for Wake Forest and Xavier. Well coached, well recruited, and one glaring connection-Skip Prosser, former head coach for both. Coach Prosser passed away last year, in his mid-50's. I always liked the way he ran his programs. Well, apparently I'm not the only one. Wake and Xavier have just signed a 10 year deal to play each other in memory of the Coach. Well done, and it kind of gets you in the ol' ticker, too. On top of that it should be fantastic basketball, so we as fans win, too.

Now this is just dumb....way to divide up the constituents. I'm sure even the white people in South Carolina are thinking, "Really? And here I was thinking this whole racism wound was going to be closed in the next few years"...morons in politics just seem to go together like beer and pizza, I swear.

And in case you didn't hear, Tom Daschle took himself out of the running for that cabinet position. The President has stated that he made a mistake. If he were W he'd have been fileted on TV by the media. You know it, and I'm damn certain of it, too.

Alright, off to bed to start the day anew!

Slow is the hunt

So this whole job hunt thing is going a bit slow. Mostly because of me. I could rant and rave like a lunatic and blame other people, but it's all on me. No one is supposed to look for a job for me. The onus falls on me, yet I continue to try to occupy my mind with frivolous crap like sports and girls. I'm 33, I think I need to let some crap go for at least a few days. On to the news....

In case you were curious, and I know that you are, it will be worse before it gets better. It has to. And this 'stimulus' package is a joke, and won't help. You read it here, and if you're as smart as I think you are, you've read it somewhere else, too.

Interesting take on how to take on a bully. Here's how I learned as a kid....sock him in the mouth. Instead of being on the defensive, be on offense. Maybe this is how the 'Fairness Doctrine' can be defeated. I say that if certain elected officials get their wish and do this, then my TV is going to blow up, because there's no way Keith Olbermann, Katie Couric and Brian Williams will be able to muzzle themselves.

For those that will claim Obama the Great is fantastic and preaching bipartisanship by potentially promoting Senator Judd Gregg, R-NH to the Secretary of Commerce cabinet position, let me call bullshit now, and forever. If Gregg accepts, the Governor can put a Democrat in his position, thus giving the D's in the Senate 60 seats, meaning they rule and there will be no fillibustering. All of this crappy stimulus and all the ills that will come with it will go straight thru. Didn't anyone read the 'Art of War'???

Think Tom Daschle would be allowed to dodge his taxes like this if he were a Republican? Me, neither. Google what he said about tax cheaters 10 years ago....guess it doesn't apply to him, huh?

Think I'm the only one that noticed how many penalties got called on the Arizona Cardinals last night? Not so much. Pretty pathetic now that it's been 24 hours.

I hope someone catches whomever is doing this and hangs them by their collective thumbs or some other appendage. Classless.

Back to the job hunt!

A few notes before I go to bed to get some rest for a big week ahead!

Okay, here's some nuggets for y'all to gnaw on before I go to bed:

I love the short-sightedness of local government. Once you read this, tell me how this helps out the Mom&Pop liquor store? I don't care if King Soopers or Safeway loses up to $700 a week. That could be one persons job plus not having to let anyone go at a family store. More proof that ALL of government doesn't care about people, they care about a corporation and getting re-elected.

This will be a hodgepodge of a blog, mixing sports and politics. In this case, it's nice to know some people still get it. At least it is nice in my mind.

And sometimes people wonder why I would consider leaving Denver??? Apparently my mayor thinks I need to empathize with the homeless. No, I don't. Get friends and ask them to help. If they are your friends, they'll help. Believe me, wearing my jammies doesn't prove anything other than i like Tigger.

HAHAHAHAHAHA....maybe it's a bit evil of me, but I distinctly remember the NBA not allowing a salary cap exemption for the Celtics after Reggie Lewis passed away. I was pissed as a freshman in college, because it wasn't like Reggie was coming back to play. Now that the precious Knicks have been denied, I'm giggling, loudly. Screw you, Knicks and your fans.

Way to help the school. Doesn't anyone have a friend, or in this case, a towel boy who can drive your drunk ass around? Passed out and zooted at the fast food joint....Bobby Bowden must be oh so very proud.

I am hoping...maybe even praying that the Senate doesn't pass this so-called 'Stimulus'. It won't stimulate a damn thing as it's written right now. This is nothing more than a money and power transfer. Money from taxpayers to those who haven't earned it and power to government, who have proven time and time and time again that they can't manage anything. The fact that some how, some way $5.2 Billion, yes, Billion with a 'B', can be earmarked for a group that is being investigated for voter fraud is beyond the pale. Quite frankly, it's criminal.

Ok, now I've got some serious questions about this girl. I'd like some more facts. There are rumors that this girl, while she lost her life in a probably horrible way, may have been dating this guy. I still say the guy should fry, and I may have added another reason. What is an 18 yr old guy doing with a 13 yr old girl? I mean, I have an idea what he's doing, and 'EWWWW', that's disgusting, and illegal. If that part is true, I'd like the reaction from the parents. Is this what they were fighting about before the girl walked out of the house? Were they disapproving of this relationship? Oh, and the family of the guy saying he's fine because his brothers are upstanding citizens can cut the shit any time now. I'm pretty sure Ted Bundy's siblings were fine people...one has nothing to do with the other most of the time. However, if the facts come out that this guy did kill this girl, on top of rape, and witness tampering and kidnapping, why oh why shouldn't he get the death penalty? My tax dollars at work, I'm telling you.

Alright citizens of Massachusetts, you don't want to vote to abolish the state income tax, but the guy in office wants to attempt to kill off some businesses, and no stink is raised? Make up my mind already. And I'm thinking of moving back to this idiocy????? Stop messing with the Necco wafers and my Fluff already!

And lastly before I go to bed, this SB sucked. The game itself was not good, clean football. The penalty disparity may look good tomorrow morning in the box score, but check out the numbers before the 4th quarter. By the way, the 4th quarter was awesome. If the game was like that, I would consider it one of the best games I've seen. But I don't need to hear Pittsburgh fans tell me how great their team was this year. They never dominate, and I've got 2 calls that weren't made that could've changed the game. 1st, Santonio Holmes should've had a 15 yard penalty for using the football as a prop after his TD (great catch!). Oh, and why wasn't the last Cardinals play reviewed? Seems to me like Kurt Warner may have been throwing the ball. Didn't it at least deserve a review?

I'll have more tomorrow night. Enjoy your zzzzz's, I know I will!
