Bored as hell

Not really sure what that title means, but seriously, I'm bored out of my skull. Might be time to take in an afternoon movie.

The weather in Denver has been lovely...It was 82 just two days ago, and it snowed last night. Good luck to everyone not getting sick around here. Oh, and now the snow is almost melted. By the time I hit the 'Publish' button on this, it will all be gone.

Single Parents-
So I have a few friends that are single parents. One is the caregiver to her child, the other never gets to see his kid. Different scenarios, different people, different everything. But if you read this article on CNN, let the tears start flowing. Yet another group of people I'm supposed to feel sorry for. Wrong again! Look, there are things I can't comprehend anymore, they are just out of bounds to me. In the year 2008, who is fucking without protection? (sidebar-in case no one noticed, I'm going to get a lil' bit ugly today, I'm tired, I'm bored, and hell, it's my blog. Don't like it, don't read it, I'm still typing it) Look, we've all done it, some of us are still doing it, but all the while people are out screwing randomly, and face it, a lot of it is randomly, we only get to see and hear ads on TV and radio telling us about Herpes Simplex 10, AIDS, and other STD's, no one seems to mention the other scenario that will most likely play out having unprotected sex....that in 9 months, you'll be a biological parent! Ta-Da!! If you get syphilis or gonorrhea you can take some penicillin and get that knocked out in 7-12 days. A kid is forever. Don't believe me? Ask your parents. No matter what happens, be it a knock-down, drag out fight, a disagreement, a racist banter about your differently colored/nationality/religious zealot significant other, or whathaveyou, you will always be their child. You don't have to claim them and vice versa, but that doesn't change it, it's fact. All this needs to be said so I can tie it in to what I think this study really is grasping at, and that is that the government wants some more single moms on the government tits. Think I'm kidding?
Why do you think we have certain presidential candidates telling us that we will have governmental health care? Do you really think it's because they give a rats ass about you? Nope, they want your vote. And none of them seem to mention socialized medicine, just that the government will take care of you. They want you from cradle to grave. They want more of your earned money, so that they can pay for some other slackers who won't get off their ass and do something.
Same thing with this so-called Mortgage 'Crisis', another bunch of crap, in my opinion. For a little history lesson, I'll hark back about 10-15 years ago, when we had members of Congress pushing banks and other financial institutions to take on what was then (and now) considered a bad loan, or a bad prospect. So you had these institutions flood the subprime market. And now that those fine folks who shouldn't have gotten a loan in the first place are foreclosing left and right, killing the hopes and dreams of the dopes that gave them the loan in the first place are getting laid off, what do we get to hear? "The government will solve this problem. These banks need to pay!" Or better yet, the government will bail you out! Awesome...but one question...Where's the money for this proposed bailout coming from? Oh that's right, the people that pay taxes and their mortgages on time. Silly them, they should've defaulted and waited for someone else to take the brunt of their inabilities for logic and reason. It's simple math, in two steps. First step, ask if you really need this much house and can afford it (it's a two-part question). Next, and here's the really awesome part about simple math, if you have a 100% pie of mortgages, and 95% of them are getting paid on time, how much does that leave for a crisis? That's right, 5%. When the hell did 5% of anything get the word crisis tied to it? I'm here to tell, you...it was as soon as the government knew that your uneducated ass would flock like a moth to a flame for a hand-out.
So for the single parents that are out there doing the damn thing, good for you. You are to be commended, and a big thank you from me for not leaching off the system like way too many of your ilk are doing. I don't lump you all together. If I did I'd be no better than the bigot that hates all blacks, or the person protesting Columbus Day saying that all Italians are connected to the Mafia....trust me, we aren't.

Obama and his crew-honestly, if you vote for this clown, best of luck to you in your future endeavors. Also know that I plan on showing up to your house in black-face and call you a honky. And blame you for things that aren't going well in my life. Puh-lease. Have you heard the latest on this guy? He was at a fundraiser in San Francisco, that bastion of reasonable thought (quit laughing, it could be true), and decided to let everyone know that all those people he had met previously in Pennsylvania are bitter, and because they are bitter, they believe in God and guns. I had a friend of mine ask me why I thought John McCain hasn't done a lot of campaigning, and my answer was twofold. 1) he pretty much has that Republican nomination all but gift-wrapped up, and 2) why campaign when your potential opponent is giving you pure gold everytime he opens his mouth? Besides, HusseinObama can't even bowl. Think people in the midwest respect someone that can't break 100? Not freakin' likely.
So, people who believe in God and like guns are bitter. Pal, I've got news for you, I'm thinking any self-respecting human would tell you the opposite. Have you ever met a true believer? Not one of those whackjob Christian Coalition uber-rightwingers. I mean someone who believes in God and trusts that their path has been laid out for them. They are refreshing. And Obama, you really shouldn't mock those that believe. I can, because I'm not running for anything...yet. But I'd still know that wouldn't be the smartest idea. You just lost the vote of everyone who believes in a God, a supreme being. Get it yet? That means that the same folks who listened, along with you, to that bigot of a preacher, Jeremiah Wright, and believes what he believes, is bitter (crap, that may actually be true...damn). You've insulted Muslims, Baptists, Lutherans, Mormans, Catholics, Protestants, Jews, etc.
Add to that now you've managed to insult the people in this country that believe in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, that darned 2nd Amendment. Brilliant. Just flat out brilliant. You know what I firmly believe no athlete, politician or entertainer completely understands right about now? That with the advent of the internet, anything can and will be held against you. I fully expect this blog to come and bite me in the ass someday. And that would be great, because that means more than 10 people read it.
If I could carry on about the sheer stupidity that is BHO's campaign, well I'll have to file this under the 'company you keep', his pastor was delivering a eulogy, and then some quotes that are attributed to his now former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. But you've only recently found out that he's crazy, right Barack? Riiiiiigggghhtttt.
Obama can claim he didn't mean to come of as a snob, stating that he grew up poor. What's that got to do with anything? Based on that kind of rationale, because Jesse Jackson was around Martin Luther King, it's okay that today he is one of, if not the preeminent race-baitor in America? Now that's just plain stupid.

I just was trying to check for the last link for Jeremiah Wright and his continued nuttiness and came across this.....this broad is perverse beyond reproach. So many assholes, so few bullets.

Jimmy Carter is going to meet with the leader of Hamas, a very well-known terrorist organization. I'd write how the peanut man needs to go away, and even a group of 50 bipartisan folks in Congress have subtly told him this might not be the smartest idea in the world, the liberal Washington Post is giving an editorial, 'Dude, WTF??' to the former president. Wow, that's about all I've got.

It may be time to start thinking about moving out of this state. What the hell is in the drinking water around here? This is what happens when the "every kid gets a trophy" starts graduating high school. There is nothing wrong with rewarding those that actually achieved something in their academic career. Life sucks, get a helmet. I can't wait to outwork these piss-ants in a few years. Reality is going to be like a steel-toed boot to the cranium. You could bet your ass that if my kid was graduating with a 4.0 I'd be shooting off bottle rockets after their name was announced, or perhaps a flyover from a plane with a banner screaming 'Special' behind it.

So, um, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar writes a blog for the LA Times, and in a word...wow. How 'bout 2 words? Freakin' Awesome. Please go to the entry entitled "Horton hears a racist". I mean, just wow. Read it, especially the Horton hears a Hoo part. Now playing left field, Kareem!!!! Oh, and a quick response to KAJ's last little snide comment about the presidency-Hey Lew, Bush has the most diverse cabinet, ever. Look it up, those people that used to sell subscriptions to the LA Times probably have some spare time.

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the massacre at Virginia Tech. Of course, some fine folks decided it would be a good time to tell you that guns kill people. And that they think some people need to have their guns taken from them, nor should they ever be on school grounds, like at a University of some sort. Are these people on something? I know I've typed this before, and I'll type it again--criminals don't follow the law, hence they are called criminals. VT was a 'no gun zone' last year, and look what happened. Same thing at Northern Illinois a few months ago. What do you think the chances are of someone trying to do that attack if they know someone else might have a gun? I'm going to go with minimal, at best, for my response. Let these people mourn, show some respect, let them grieve.

And Alicia Keys has gone to the Roger Clemens school of misremembering....just stop, really.

Okay, enough of some of this serious stuff...on to the sports!:
Herschel Walker is clinically insane. I don't care what anyone else tries to tell me, but anytime you get brought to the point where you'd put a gun to your bride's head (Look, I know some of you married guys have thought about it, but that's not a big deal...the actual putting a gun to someone's head, might be construed as 'having issues'), or better yet, play russian roulette, you are certifiable in my book. Jason Whitlock has an interesting take, made me giggle.

Does anyone want to ask Red Sox manager Terry Francona why he continues to bring in Mike Timlin to face Jason Giambi? I love the Sox as much as the next nutjob, but why, oh why, is Timlin pitching to the guy that has his only hits of the year off of him? I turned off the Sox last night after the first pitch landed in the upper deck, albeit foul. I knew how the rest of that game was going to go.
As for the Sox, they are just fine, and Manny is raking. As soon as Papi finds his groove at the plate, the summer will be just fine. I realize Bucholz didn't pitch great last night, but now he's been through a couple of Sox/Yankees games, so he knows what to expect.

Has anyone noticed that so far CC Sabathia is costing himself a few bucks. He's 0-3 and his ERA is hovering around 9. Not good, not even remotely good. It could be due to him pitching so much last year, a combined 256 innings. That represents quite a jump from the 193 the previous season. I think he's got dead arm. Don't worry, the Yankees will get him next year for a truck load of money. For their sake, they better test out that arm.

Why does Maurice Greene have to prove anything? You have to catch him doing something wrong. Just because he knew people that were shady (in track and field, you don't say!) doesn't make him guilty of anything. I can't follow the logic on the IAAF in this piece.

An interesting legal take on the Sonics and their potential move. Do I ever hope that the rest of the owners stick it to David Stern when they vote for this tomorrow.

It's funny how these two stories have nothing to do with each other on the surface, but if you think about it long enough, maybe, just maybe, Chad Johnson needs to learn to shut it.
In case you've been under a rock for a bit of time, Chad Johnson, who will be called by his given name, Ocho Stinko, from here on out, has really come up with a doozy. He has now stated he wants out of Cincinnati, before the draft, or very shortly after it. He wants his QB, Carson Palmer, to stay out of his business. Let me see here...you wanted to be paid like you were the best receiver in the league, and they took care of you. You have a top 10 QB throwing you the ball, even when you embarrass him on national TV. You're not even the best receiver on your team (that would be TJ Houshmazilli), and if they were to trade you, the Bengals would have to eat $8 Million in cap space. My take? You've got options, Cincy, and I advise you to either fly Stinko into your town, or you fly to him, and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Advise them of the following choices-play or don't, but you aren't getting traded. And if you choose to go "T.O." on us, be prepared to face legal recourse. Or throw them a bone-you have a 30 day window to work out a trade, one in which we won't take a cap hit. Those would be the three options. End of story. Quite frankly, I'd be happy to see his narrow behind not ever show up, because then he doesn't get to collect a paycheck, either. Let him rot. This is not just sports and entertaining, it's big business. The people of Cincy, and more importantly, Stinko's teammates, deserve better. You're paid, you big baby. Look at your splits from last year. How many drops did you have? And who is trading for you? You're a WR, a position that quite frankly is just as likely to be found in the 1st round of the draft as it is in the 5th round. So please, cut the crap. I get it, you and the coach don't get along. Why not avoid each other? I know I'm quoting Belichick here, but do your job.

The other day was also the 61st anniversary of Jackie Robinson playing major league baseball. We need more men like him in the world, to hell with just sports. He was a brilliant and stoic man, quite a few of todays people could learn quite a bit from how Jackie handled himself. A study has come out very recently stating that the percentage of blacks has gone down to 8.2% of players. I wondered why, and apparently Mark Kriegel did, too. A very good read, something I never thought about, but maybe that's why we all get dusty watching 'Field of Dreams'. Who knew? All I can say about Jackie Robinson, other than I've seen his plaque in Cooperstown, is that it will be awfully amusing for me to try to explain to my kids or anyone's kids for that matter, that Jackie couldn't play for awhile because of the color of his skin. If Branch Rickey hadn't noted the man's character, I can't imagine how much longer it would've taken to get a black man in the major leagues. I am planning on going to KC in a couple of months, I bet you anything that not only do I plan on watching some baseball and eating some BBQ, I'll spend most of one day at the Negro League Baseball Museum. I think it's definitely worth checking out.

In news no one ought to be surprised by, Miguel Tejada is closer to getting that AARP card than he had originally said.
