The sun does shine!

Yes, the sun shines even on a Dog's ass every once in awhile. I was right in all my picks! No one is more shocked than me, seriously. Let's all bask in my mediocrity from yesterday:

West Virginia/Xavier: I know a lot of people are jumping on the West Virginia bandwagon, good for you if you're one of them. But I don't believe in Joe Alexander. I'll never believe in a guy who talks smack to a Duke guy. Please, spare me. Where was this against teams like UConn, Providence, and Cincinnati? Not there, you know why? They'd smack the taste out of your mouth, that's why. Yest, WVU is good, but I like Xavier's seniors, look for Josh Duncan to have a double-double and that other team from Cincinnati to win by 9. Well, the game went to OT. I'm glad to see that Xavier never panics, because I was doing plenty of that on my couch. Josh Duncan didn't have a double-double, but he did manage to have a career scoring day with 26 pts. I'm glad I got this one right, I like this Xavier team, it's senior-laden and is extremely cohesive.

Washington State/UNC: I know some who pick this game as a walk for UNC. Or there are those that claim Wazzu will be an upset pick. How about neither? I say that the 'Heels have too much firepower, but this game is close, and UNC doesn't break 90, but win anyway. Alright, UNC won by 19, and what I noticed while watching this game was that while they are both good teams, this was a horrible matchup. These teams were never going to give us the viewing public a good game. It's like 2 boxers whose styles don't match, so you get an ugly game. That's what last night was. UNC was far too athletic for Wazzu and this game was over at halftime. I can take not that not only was I correct in my pick, but UNC didn't even come close to 90.

Western Kentucky/UCLA: Really? I get to pick this one? UCLA, and it won't be close. I think Bruin Coach Ben Howland is ticked that his team didn't thump Texas A&M last week, so if Josh Shipp can get over the strep throat, Kevin Love has a double-double and UCLA holds super-scoring Hilltopper G Courtney Lee to 20, but a lot of shots taken, and win by 15. I don't get UCLA. They were up by 21 at one point in this game, and then let WKU come back to make it a 4 pt lead. What gives? Will the real UCLA Bruins please stand up? Yes, they won by 10 in the end, and Kevin Love played awesome, again. But how many times does this freshmen have to bail this team out with clutch shots, rebounds, and even better outlet passes?

Louisville/Tennessee: Look, I know I picked Tennessee to go to the finals, but I'm not seeing the urgency out of this team, and Louisville has proven me wrong all the damn time. I think if Vols G Chris Lofton is really hurt then the Cardinals run Tennessee off the floor. You know what, I'm picking Pitino (this is when you call your wife, cash in the kids education bonds, then call your 'guy' and makes millions picking against me-just a hint). Louisville wins by 10, in a somewhat of a surpise. Oh, not only did Louisville win, they just put UNC on notice. I think tomorrow's game will be a fantastic track meet. But back to this game, I think it's safe to say that Tennessee blew its wad vs. Memphis earlier this season. They peaked too early. A great regular season turned to an iffy conference tournament to a downright yucky NCAA tourney. They never looked right to me, and last night was no different. The Cardinals, on the other hand, looked great. They play frantic basketball, and get teams to play right along with them.

So there's my 4 for 4 evening...Let's see what I've concocted for tonight's games:

Davidson/Wisconsin: I know a ton of people are falling in love with Davidson and especially Stephen Curry, but tonight Cinderella is no more. Wisconsin plays some of the best D in the country and Davidson cannot matchup inside with those widebodies from Madison. Wisconsin will only win by 7, but it won't look that close. On a side note, in case no one saw what the trustees at Davidson did, here's a story. Kind of makes me wonder why other Universities with far deeper pockets aren't doing the same thing. For this action alone, wouldn't you at least tell your kid to consider Davidson?

Stanford/Texas: Home court advantage be damned. I'm going with the kids from Palo Alto tonight. I don't think that Texas has the size up front to deal with the Lopez twins. This game will be played in Houston, TX, so I won't be shocked if Texas wins, but my gut tells me that the Cardinal take this game by 5, and both Lopez twins have a double-double.

Villanova/Kansas: Kansas, in a romp. No, seriously. If the Jayhawks come into this game and take 'Nova even slightly, they're doomed to repeat past mistakes. I think Kansas has too much depth, but I've been wrong about Villanova all year long, mostly due to my Big East bias. Hey, at least I can admit it. I think if Kansas shows up to play like they have their last 2 tournament games, they win by 18.

Michigan State/Memphis: On paper this ought to be a rout. Instead, they play games for us to watch on TV. That being said, this had better not be a game that comes down to free throw shooting if you're Memphis, because they are 337th out of 340 D-1 schools from the stripe. How awful is that? I feel that the Tigers have too much speed for the Spartans and should win. My only hedging is that if somehow Tom Izzo can get Memphis to play at his deliberate slow-down speed, the kids from MSU have a shot. Nah!

In other news, we have porn camp. And since I was curious what the instructor would look like, I've taken the liberty of having her picture here....don't worry, it's all safe for work.

Have a great weekend and I'll be back tomorrow with a wrap up of tonight's games and predictions on tomorrow.

Let's just see how wrong I can be!

Well, I don't think I could be much worse, but we'll never know until I try, right? On to the predictions:

West Virginia/Xavier: I know a lot of people are jumping on the West Virginia bandwagon, good for you if you're one of them. But I don't believe in Joe Alexander. I'll never believe in a guy who talks smack to a Duke guy. Please, spare me. Where was this against teams like UConn, Providence, and Cincinnati? Not there, you know why? They'd smack the taste out of your mouth, that's why. Yest, WVU is good, but I like Xavier's seniors, look for Josh Duncan to have a double-double and that other team from Cincinnati to win by 9.

Washington State/UNC: I know some who pick this game as a walk for UNC. Or there are those that claim Wazzu will be an upset pick. How about neither? I say that the 'Heels have too much firepower, but this game is close, and UNC doesn't break 90, but win anyway.

Louisville wins by 10, in a somewhat of a surpise.

some other notes:

Let's hear it for someone who believes in punishing a criminal. Although, I wish Piazza had a chance to chuck a full water bottle or a bat at him....I never get what I want (kidding!)

Well, my boys at Syracuse continue to give me a coronary, almost. They lost a 17 point lead at home and were ceremoniously bounced from the NIT the other night. It was almost a coaching thing, but I like to chalk it up to another game where the opponent had more depth and wore the Orangemen (that's right, I'm sticking with the un-PC former name of the team!). Credit UMass, they didn't give up, and ran that short bench ragged. I can only hope that everyone comes back next season and they have a 10 man rotation.

And the Celtics beat the crap out of Phoenix last night, and in case you missed it, here's a sweet crossover to remind you how damn good Rajon Rondo is.

Happy viewing!!!

50% right means 50% wrong!

Let's just review this thing, and then maybe I'll be tired enough to go to sleep. As a side note, maybe having the big cup of coffee with dessert at 5 in the evening was a bad choice...who knew? Anyways, on to my split for Sunday:

Siena/Villanova: As I'm typing this 'Nova is up 13 on Siena. I was picking Siena before this game, as my Big East hatred for Villanova is well documented, so I'm sticking with Siena. So please, hit some jumpers already! Yeah, that didn't happen, and it was pretty much a Villanova lead between 10-13 pts all game. Fine, I'll just come out and say that Scottie Reynolds is a damn fine player and try to remember that come this next weekend.

Miami/Texas: I like Texas, but they better show up and be ready to go, this will not be a walk-over game. 'Horns PG DJ Augustin must dictate tempo from the tip, and they should win by 12. Um, how's 3 instead? I'll take it, it's one of my 4 wins on Sunday!

Butler/Tennessee: Okay, this should be a Sweet 16 game. I like Tennessee because they have more athletes and can play a hectic full court style, but they need to get over the seeding process and what happened on Selection Sunday, and get out and run, run, run. If they don't, Butler will not only hang, but surprise the Vols. This one should be in the 80's, with Tennessee by 8. Tennessee by 5, in OT. Okay, Vol coach Pearl, stop making me sweat already.

Davidson/Georgetown: If Georgetown decides to leave Stephen Curry alone every once in awhile, they'll lose. I doubt that will happen, but Georgetown will bore everyone to tears by winning by 11, game played in the 60's. You know what, I'm happy I got this one wrong. Davidson was down by 14 at one point, and they stormed back to win. Georgetown was sloppy with the ball and they refused to put teams away all season, and this one came back to bite them in the ass. Great for Davidson, even better for Stephen Curry, who is truly gaining some serious NBA sniffs right now. He reminds me of Reggie Miller and Rip Hamilton, running off screens all day long and can finish at the hoop, too. They will be very fun to watch!

San Diego/Western Kentucky: Western Kentucky blew its wad on Friday by beating Drake at the buzzer, I think San Diego wins by 11. Watch for Rob Jones to have a big game for the Toreros. Wrong again. Courtney Lee can score, as evidenced by his 29. My pick for Rob Jones to have a big game didn't exactly pan out, as he finished with 11/5. Not bad, but not the game I had in mind for him. He had a great freshman year and I hope to hear about him again next year. Western Kentucky will not be an easy matchup for their next game, that's for certain.

Mississippi State/Memphis: Mississippi State can play, leave no doubt, but I don't think Memphis will take them lightly and will press all day long. Memphis is a deeper team, and should take this one. Woohoo, got this one right, but only because MSU missed a 3/4 court shot at the end to send it in to OT. Memphis will play Michigan State next, they better get their rest, they will need it.

Oklahoma/Louisville: I think Louisville will come in cocky, just as their coach, Rick Pitino, is apt to do. I like OU in a slight upset. There's being wrong, and then there is being what I like to call "Mondale Wrong". Little history lesson for you...back in 1984, Ronald Reagan shellacked the living hell out of Walter Mondale to gain a 2nd term for US President. We're talking 49-1 in states here kids. Well, I thought OU would win. Uh, Louisville won by 30, and this game was well decided at halftime. Hence Mondale Wrong.

Arkansas/UNC: The 'Heels better show up with their Defensive shoes on, Arkansas is not to be taken lightly. They can score and run, but UNC has too many guys, too deep, and I think Roy Williams will have his team ready to play, so I like UNC by 15. How about by 31? I thought the Hogs would give the Heels a game at least, sheesh. But you don't win games allowing 60% FG's to your opponent.

That's all I've got for now, I'm not really tired, but I don't feel like typing anymore. Happy Monday, now get back to work!

Not horrible

So, let's review yesterday...and Happy Easter!!!:

West Virginia/Duke: I know everyone is saying how lucky Duke was to escape Belmont, and there may be some truth to that, but they won. And I don't ever trust Bob Huggins coached teams. Not yet, at least, so I'm going with Duke by 7. And I'd be dead wrong. I still won't root for WVU, I think some of their players are extremely cocky for a team that is good, but not remotely close to great.

Kansas State/Wisconsin: I'm taking Wisconsin, a better coached team and far more experience then KSU's last opponent, USC. You never know, K-State could keep winning just to spite me. It's not like it would be the first time. But this one was what i like to call a bulls-eye.

Purdue/Xavier: A damn fine 2nd round matchup, I like Xavier to try and get out and run and give Purdue some matchup difficulties. I think this game will be in the 80's, with Xavier hitting some shots at the end to win by 6. 85-78 Xavier, how'd I do? Pretty darn good. Yes, I'm patting myself on the back.

Notre Dame/Washington State: I still have no clue what Wazzu did to Winthrop to hold them to 11 pts in the 2nd half of their 1st round matchup, but I don't think that will happen to Notre Dame. The Irish have some kids that can shoot, and I look for that to open up the game and the inside for Luke Harongody, the Big East player of the year. I like ND by 8. I couldn't have been more wrong if I tried, with WSU winning by 20. I guess I'll have to respect Wazzu come the next round, they play some serious D.

Marquette/Stanford: Please, Lopez twins, work Marquette, I can't stand that team right now. I think PG Dominic James might be one of the most overrated players in the country. Have your guards sag off of him and dare him to beat you deep, you'll be just fine. I said sag off of James, not Jerel McNeal. That guys last 7 games he's averaged 23 pts. Pretty good, but not enough to beat Stanford (phew). Brook Lopez, in case you're curious, had 28, in the 2nd half and OT!

UNLV/Kansas: This will not be a walk in the park for Rock Chalk Jayhawk fans. I don't think it ever is. But this one could be a track meet, gosh I love those. Scoring in the 90's for this one, KU pulls away late, wins by 13. Okay, Kansas won by 19 and only scored 75, and they'll be just fine in the next round.

Michigan State/Pittsburgh: Hide the women and children. And can someone get me a football officiating crew? This game could be played in the 50's, and will not be for the weak of heart. This is what's known as a 'Grown-Ass Man's Game'. Look for some seriously strong screens and bodies to fly. I like Pitt, I think they are the tougher team and better athletes. Uh, someone want to cover Drew Neitzel??? Michigan State won in what some might consider not a pretty game.

Texas A&M/UCLA: UCLA should win this game, but it won't be as easy as showing up to the arena. A&M has some guys that have been around the tournament, and they aren't going to lay down. This will be a sneaky-good game. And I was correct on this one, too. Can Kevin Love get some props, please? I think that if he comes out for the NBA draft someone is going to get a very good player for a long, long time. He may not have great leaping ability, or the tremendous athleticism certain GM's look for, but he's a ball-player, and always does things that help teams win. Oh, and the sweet fall-away baseline jumper was suh-weet last night.

Now, on to today's games:
Siena/Villanova: As I'm typing this 'Nova is up 13 on Siena. I was picking Siena before this game, as my Big East hatred for Villanova is well documented, so I'm sticking with Siena. So please, hit some jumpers already!

Miami/Texas: I like Texas, but they better show up and be ready to go, this will not be a walk-over game. 'Horns PG DJ Augustin must dictate tempo from the tip, and they should win by 12.

Davidson/Georgetown: If Georgetown decides to leave Stephen Curry alone every once in awhile, they'll lose. I doubt that will happen, but Georgetown will bore everyone to tears by winning by 11, game played in the 60's.

San Diego/Western Kentucky: Western Kentucky blew its wad on Friday by beating Drake at the buzzer, I think San Diego wins by 11. Watch for Rob Jones to have a big game for the Toreros.

Mississippi State/Memphis: Mississippi State can play, leave no doubt, but I don't think Memphis will take them lightly and will press all day long. Memphis is a deeper team, and should take this one.

Oklahoma/Louisville: I think Louisville will come in cocky, just as their coach, Rick Pitino, is apt to do. I like OU in a slight upset.

Arkansas/UNC: The 'Heels better show up with their Defensive shoes on, Arkansas is not to be taken lightly. They can score and run, but UNC has too many guys, too deep, and I think Roy Williams will have his team ready to play, so I like UNC by 15.

I hope everyone has a great day with family, enjoy the chocolate bunnies!!

And Friday was even worse!

I hope no one bet with my picks yesterday.....and who wishes they went to Tampa?? Every lower seed won there yesterday, and those were some great games. Recapping yesterday and mocking myself:

American/Tennessee: I think Tennessee rolls after being ticked about their bracket/seeding. Tennessee won by 15, but it was much closer, and I'm starting to be worried for the Volunteers, as they were snuffed out on the boards and looked like they had a bit of a hangover from the SEC tourney and the selection process. Someone needs to tell G Chris Lofton to stop aiming the ball and shoot.

Davidson/Gonzaga: the Zags will hold off Stephen Curry, but this could be a great game. Uh, no they didn't. Curry was awesome, and the Zags couldn't find a whole bunch of rhythm, and Davidson won in the last 10 seconds. Great game, but it was the national coming out party for Curry, who hit for 40 while shooting 8/10 from long distance. Think having an NBA Dad (Dell Curry) helped this kid with a couple of ways to set his feet and get his shot off?

St. Mary's/Miami: St. Mary's has 4 guys from the Australian national team, they've beaten good teams, I like them by 8. Dead wrong on this one, St. Mary's was kind of flat in the second half, whereas Miami came out fired up, and it showed.

Western Kentucky/Drake: Love the Drake, but watch for Courtney Lee, he's scored 2K in points, watch for him in this years draft. Did you see the shot by Ty Rogers?? So far the best moment of the tourney, and right now this was the best game. Drake came back from 15 down to tie it up and send it to OT. But Rogers hit a long 3 at the buzzer, sending the Drake home.

South Alabama/Butler: I hope the AD at Butler wrote a strongly worded letter to the Selection Committee for sending the higher seed to Birmingham, Alabama...nice to give a 10 seed a home game. I like Butler, a ton of seniors, and they're pretty good. Didn't matter where they played this one, Butler came out on fire and won by 20.

UMBC/Georgetown: I think Georgetown will win, but don't be shocked if this is close. UMBC has 3 transfers from major conferences, so they shouldn't be intimidated by Georgetown. Well, it was close for 10 minutes, and then Georgetown just flat-out overpowered UMBC, crushing them on the boards, winning by 19.

Austin Peay/Texas: The 'Horns, in a rout. I'm thinking by 20, at least. And they won by 20!!!

San Diego/UConn: I look for UConn to try and control the paint and run the Toreros off the floor. It'll be close, UConn late with some free throws, by 7. Congrats to San Diego, a great game (in Tampa) and I do feel for UConn, who will be asking themselves 'What If' because starting PG AJ Price was injured 8 minutes into the game. Very tough to lose your lead guard in college and win a game.

Mount St. Mary's/UNC: Mount, thanks for showing up, meet the overall #1 seed, the Tar Heels by 18. I know the score reads that UNC coasted, but they gave up 41 in the 1st half. It's a little worrisome, it looks like they don't care on D sometimes. I don't think it will matter tomorrow, but you never know.

St. Joe's/Oklahoma: I still can't figure out Oklahoma, and St. Joe's is really a tough group. Based on the Philly connection, I think St. Joe's pulls this out. I don't think OU cared to much for my analysis, and never trailed, gaining victory by 8.

Siena/Vanderbilt: I like Vandy, but don't be surprised if this game is a track meet, Siena can score, and in bunches. And of course, my kinda surprise pick for a Sweet 16 run is run off the damn court. It's like they never showed up. Siena took it to the kids from Vandy all night, winning by 21. I now hate Vandy. How do you beat the #1 team in the country and then pull off this stinker not 3 weeks later?

Oregon/Mississippi St.: I don't even think Oregon should be in the tourney. Look out for MSU's point guard, he's a baller. Mississippi State wins by 7, it was a decent game, but it's the outcome I had hoped for.

Arkansas/Indiana: I think Arkansas runs IU off the floor, they haven't been the same since Kelvin Sampson was dismissed. That's too bad for these kids, right before the whole cell phone crap happened they were looking like a potential Final 4 team. Too bad I was correct on this one, the Hogs winning by 14, with F Sydney Weems going 12/14 for 31 pts.

Boise State/Louisville: I think Louisville just outruns and hustles Boise St. out of the gym. Louisville runs them off the floor by 18. 'Nuff said.

Villanova/Clemson: I like Clemson, and their style is hectic, it's a gut feeling. I know that I don't like 'Nova, only because Scottie Reynolds kills my boys every stinkin' time (da 'Cuse!), but you give props when it is deserved, and Villanova deserves them. They came back from 18 down at one point to win this game. Clemson can only blame themselves, shooting 60% from the charity stripe, and losing by 6. Oh yeah, guess where this game was played? If you said Tampa, you'd be right!!

Texas-Arlington/Memphis: Memphis will try and put up 100, and they just might. Memphis wins 87-63, not much to say, other than I hope they make it fun to watch!

Now, here are today's picks (seriously, don't use these for gambling purposes, you'll lose money, and I can't have that on my conscience):

West Virginia/Duke: I know everyone is saying how lucky Duke was to escape Belmont, and there may be some truth to that, but they won. And I don't ever trust Bob Huggins coached teams. Not yet, at least, so I'm going with Duke by 7.

Kansas State/Wisconsin: I'm taking Wisconsin, a better coached team and far more experience then KSU's last opponent, USC. You never know, K-State could keep winning just to spite me. It's not like it would be the first time.

Purdue/Xavier: A damn fine 2nd round matchup, I like Xavier to try and get out and run and give Purdue some matchup difficulties. I think this game will be in the 80's, with Xavier hitting some shots at the end to win by 6.

Marquette/Stanford: Please, Lopez twins, work Marquette, I can't stand that team right now. I think PG Dominic James might be one of the most overrated players in the country. Have your guards sag off of him and dare him to beat you deep, you'll be just fine.

UNLV/Kansas: This will not be a walk in the park for Rock Chalk Jayhawk fans. I don't think it ever is. But this one could be a track meet, gosh I love those. Scoring in the 90's for this one, KU pulls away late, wins by 13.

Texas A&M/UCLA: UCLA should win this game, but it won't be as easy as showing up to the arena. A&M has some guys that have been around the tournament, and they aren't going to lay down. This will be a sneaky-good game.

Enjoy your Saturday of hoops, I'll be back tomorrow morning to mock my own picks, because I'm not that good at it!

Just terrible

So, my predictions did not work out so well yesterday....Let's review the awesomeness of awfulness:

Georgia/Xavier-please...enough of this Cinderella crap, Xavier by 10. Great game, I was correct on this one.

Portland St./Kansas-PSU will stick around for 8 minutes, then it's balls-out for the Jayhawks. It wasn't even close, KU just has better athletes.

Temple/Michigan St.-Michigan St. is a great tourney team. If Neitzel is hot, this one is over quick. Drew Neitzel wasn't hot, and MSU still won.

Kentucky/Marquette-I hate Marquette, but I think they have too much depth for Ashley Judd. Marquette pulled this one out, could've been the best game of the day.

Baylor/Purdue-I think Baylor's guards could give Purdue some headaches, but I'm going with the Boilermakers. Purdue put up 90!

Kent State/UNLV-Kent State is more tested, and I think they're better. I don't think Kent State knew they were actually keeping score in the 1st half...they had like 8 pts with 4 minutes to go in the 1st half!!! Wrong on this one.

Oral Roberts/Pitt-I think Pitt is going to roll, by like 15. Sorry, it was 19.

Cornell/Stanford-Cornell will have no match for the Lopez Twins. Over, and early, the Cardinal roll to victory. Yes, it was that easy.

Kansas State/USC-set your friggin' Tivos!!! Beasley vs. Mayo. This should be fun to watch these two players who should both be top 5 in the upcoming NBA draft, but I think USC will win due to coaching. Every time I watch K-State their coach has this confused angry look on his face, like his car got stolen but they left his 'Best of Barry Manilow' CD in the parking spot. Well, it would have been nice if Tim Floyd coached his damn team. Great win by K-State, enjoy watching Beasley...and Bill Walker.

Belmont/Duke-I know some are calling for this upset, but they both have smart white guys. Know what Duke has? Athletic, smart white guys. Duke won by 1, but they won, and that's what matters.

Winthrop/Washington State-Upset alert! I'm taking Winthrop, they've been to the tourney 4 years in a row and play a great style of ball. So, they were tied 29 at the half, and then Winthrop, I have no idea what happened, they scored 11 total in the second half and got beat by 31. My apologies to Wazzuu, damn what an ass-whoopin'!

Texas A&M/BYU-I'm never impressed by schools from the WAC, so I'm taking A&M. Correct.

Cal-State Fullerton/Wisconsin-Wisco by 5. Cal-State scores a bunch, but I think this will come out to game management. More like 15, but CSFU does run some weird offense.

Arizona/West Virginia-I've got Arizona, too many athletes, and watch for freshman PG Jerrod Bayless for the 'Cats. He's a good one. I'm not touching them in next years tourney, book it now.

George Mason/Notre Dame-the Fightin' Irish, and it won't be close. 18 pt margin, I'd say I was right on this one.

Mississippi Valley St./UCLA-Unless MVSU alum Jerry Rice is catching passes in an alumni touch football game, UCLA will just wear them down, and win by 18. 70-29, thanks for playing.

Okay, now for today's predictions (yes, 2 games have started by the time I'm typing this up, but it won't change anything for me):

American/Tennessee: I think Tennessee rolls after being ticked about their bracket/seeding.

Davidson/Gonzaga: the Zags will hold off Stephen Curry, but this could be a great game.

St. Mary's/Miami: St. Mary's has 4 guys from the Australian national team, they've beaten good teams, I like them by 8.

Western Kentucky/Drake: Love the Drake, but watch for Courtney Lee, he's scored 2K in points, watch for him in this years draft.

South Alabama/Butler: I hope the AD at Butler wrote a strongly worded letter to the Selection Committee for sending the higher seed to Birmingham, Alabama...nice to give a 10 seed a home game. I like Butler, a ton of seniors, and they're pretty good.

UMBC/Georgetown: I think Georgetown will win, but don't be shocked if this is close. UMBC has 3 transfers from major conferences, so they shouldn't be intimidated by Georgetown.

Austin Peay/Texas: The 'Horns, in a rout. I'm thinking by 20, at least.

San Diego/UConn: I look for UConn to try and control the paint and run the Toreros off the floor. It'll be close, UConn late with some free throws, by 7.

Mount St. Mary's/UNC: Mount, thanks for showing up, meet the overall #1 seed, the Tar Heels by 18.

St. Joe's/Oklahoma: I still can't figure out Oklahoma, and St. Joe's is really a tough group. Based on the Philly connection, I think St. Joe's pulls this out.

Siena/Vanderbilt: I like Vandy, but don't be surprised if this game is a track meet, Siena can score, and in bunches.

Oregon/Mississippi St.: I don't even think Oregon should be in the tourney. Look out for MSU's point guard, he's a baller.

Arkansas/Indiana: I think Arkansas runs IU off the floor, they haven't been the same since Kelvin Sampson was dismissed. That's too bad for these kids, right before the whole cell phone crap happened they were looking like a potential Final 4 team.

Boise State/Louisville: I think Louisville just outruns and hustles Boise St. out of the gym.

Villanova/Clemson: I like Clemson, and their style is hectic, it's a gut feeling.

Texas-Arlington/Memphis: Memphis will try and put up 100, and they just might.

Happy watching!

News...and it's Tourney Time

Haha to all you suckers at work today hitting "Alt-Tab" to get to your phony spreadsheets while trying to keep track of your NCAA brackets. I'm here to help, but you've got to get thru some news stuff first...it's only fair to keep the 4 people that read this thing informed!

In case you've been under a rock lately, Obama is getting skewered for his affiliation to Pastor Jeremiah Wright, and came out on Monday with a speech regarding race. In my opinion, everything Obama has got coming to him is damn worth it. And the atypical liberal reaction is to be mocked, just as Neal Boortz has done here.
Obama is in big trouble. Since last Friday when this news came about and someone helped but this Pastor Wright's sermons on YouTube, he's been losing points. And big points, to Shillary. The fact that she has had to do nothing to gain these points is amazing. She's allowing Obama to hang himself. The crass thing to me about Obama's speech is that he stated he could not disown his preacher so much as he could disown his white grandmother. Uh, not for nothing, but no one asked you to disown your white grandmother. But they can and will question you from now until (potentially) November about your affiliation with a racist, bigoted, nutjob. And that's what Pastor Wright is, make no mistake.
Have any of you heard some of this man's rantings and ravings? He stated that the US govt. put out the AIDS virus to kill blacks. Sorry, but Ryan White and Rock Hudson were white, and they both died of AIDS. The US govt can't figure anything out, so why the conspiracy to kill only Blacks? Blacks are killing each other every day, without any assistance from men of other color(s). It's this type of stereotypical discussion, and using the guise of "In the Bible" that's more divisive than anything. We will not get a straight discussion about race, or racism, in this country until we can all, black, white, purple, brown and yellow, tell those that are race-baiters, to sit down and shut up. Not because they aren't important to the discussion, but because we as a people cannot let them lead the discussion. Personally, I'm cool with locking Jesse Jackson and his son, Al Sharpton, Louis Farahkan, David Duke, Robert Byrd along with the heads of La Raza and CAIR into a room and losing the key. I bet you we'd get a lot more accomplished.
As for Obama, I think he's about to see how smart and dumb this country really is. Those that take the time to read, research and listen will understand that Obama has been following this man for 20 years, and since he called Wright his mentor, those people will see "danger" lit up over Obama's head. Those that chose to just listen to mainstream media will take awhile to come around, but you don't have to be a genius to figure out that when someone's mentor state "God Damn America" that it could be something that sticks in someone's head and makes them think, "gee, maybe the old guy or that dumb broad might not be a bad choice." And if you think I'm kidding, go to a coffee house and a Wal Mart to see what I'm talking about.

Speaking of coffee, remember to go anywhere but Starbucks. If you really need to know why, here's a pretty good breakdown. They just can't get any more of my money.

A few more news things and on to the sports---

I hope those of you living in the Massachusetts area love this---how the hell do you run a state government agency in the red??? Nevermind, probably the same kid that won a spelling bee with the winner "Katt" (just kidding...I know the second 'T' is silent) is now running this show.

Back on my campaign for Presidency in '12, it appears as though my Accountability Party will have a lot to talk about. Apparently Eliot Spitzer's chief ho has been in 'Girls Gone Wild'. I think Larry Flynt still has an offer out to her to spread 'em for $1 Million. Not too shabby. I love that now a lawyer is stating that when these pictures were taken she was 17. And? Did she give them a fake ID? Did she say she was 18? GGW founder Joe Francis gets girls to sign a waiver, flash some tits (maybe more), and then gives them a cheap t-shirt or booty shorts. Quite frankly, the man's a genius. Just a quick tangent here....who pays for internet porn??? As for the accountability angle, I'm just getting a wee bit tired of everyone playing the victim. I don't care if you were young, you clearly knew what was going on, you showed us your goods (and we thank you for it) and then you decided to turn some tricks for a high-end escort service. No one made you do this, so you and your lawyer need to zip it. You'll be getting paid on the back end, either by Hustler, Penthouse, a movie deal and/or a book deal.

Maybe not quite on the Accountability tip, but this news makes me very, very proud to be an American. Why shouldn't this guy be able to run his business in whichever way he sees fit?! Here's a guy who pays all sorts of taxes, is a viable member of the community and some clown wants him to speak something other than English--not anymore. Chalk up a win for the lil' guy.

On to some sports...while this is not cool, the reaction by the team is. Hey, Al Davis is throwing around money like he's a sailor on leave, maybe he'll sign you?

So here in Denver we have the 'Thuggets', I mean Nuggets, for our NBA franchise. Well, the other night they put up 168 on Seattle, a team that's just not that good. Here's a reaction from Charles Barkley. I couldn't agree more with the Chuckster. If the Nuggets were just running their offense and kept scoring, then fine, but when you're up by 30 and chucking 3's, you deserve anything you get. And here's the best part, the Thuggets are getting just that. They lost in Philly last night, and they cannot stop anyone on D. Guards and forwards are driving thru the lane with the greatest of ease, and Thuggets are happy to let them go by like a matador. I'm not sure, but I swear I hear "Oh Lay" on every dribble-drive by an opponent.
Here's how I know I agree with Sir Charles on this scoring thing. A few years ago I was playing in a men's league, and we made it into the playoffs. We weren't that good, and for this playoff game we were severely undermanned. That's what happens when you put together a team of go-getting late 20-somethings. Well, our game was vs Pepsi's bottling plant. These are some very strong union type guys. Let's call them 'athletic'. They ran us off the court. Fair enough. But with about 3 minutes to go they thought it would be good to try and embarass my team. Bad idea. I don't mind getting my ass kicked, I can live with defeat. I will not be humiliated. So the show-boating starts, with the "And 1 Mix Tape" type dribbling, the shooting from one foot inside halfcourt, I knew what was coming. It was going to be a showtime dunk. Not on my watch. So there was a breakaway and I beat feet down the court and fouled the guy. Not hard, I got some ball. But I knew he was going to try some crazy-ass dunk. Again, not on my watch, not when you're up by 20. Just hold the ball, there's no shot clock. The guy wanted to fight me. His whole team wanted to fight me. And I kinda did what Rajon Rondo and Rafer Alston did the other night...I stood my ground. Then the jawing started and I told him you already won, but to try and do it with some class. After his free throws he kept jabbering and decided he would go at me defensively. Very tight on the man-to-man D, so I giggled, ran off a screen, waited until he caught up with me, stared straight at him and nailed a '3'. Grinned and the buzzer sounded.
Sorry, but someone on Seattle should've had the balls to cream JR Smith when he went to throw down a dunk. Like Kevin McHale back in the day.

Tourney Predictions!!!!
Alright, I've got Tennessee, Kansas, Stanford and UCLA in my Final 4. I've got UCLA winning 83-75 over Tennessee, but enough of that boring crap, the games tip off in 15 minutes, so here's some predictions for today's slate of games:

Georgia/Xavier-please...enough of this Cinderella crap, Xavier by 10.

Portland St./Kansas-PSU will stick around for 8 minutes, then it's balls-out for the Jayhawks.

Temple/Michigan St.-Michigan St. is a great tourney team. If Neitzel is hot, this one is over quick.

Kentucky/Marquette-I hate Marquette, but I think they have too much depth for Ashley Judd.

Baylor/Purdue-I think Baylor's guards could give Purdue some headaches, but I'm going with the Boilermakers.

Kent State/UNLV-Kent State is more tested, and I think they're better.

Oral Roberts/Pitt-I think Pitt is going to roll, by like 15.

Cornell/Stanford-Cornell will have no match for the Lopez Twins. Over, and early, the Cardinal roll to victory.

Belmont/Duke-I know some are calling for this upset, but they both have smart white guys. Know what Duke has? Athletic, smart white guys.

Winthrop/Washington State-Upset alert! I'm taking Winthrop, they've been to the tourney 4 years in a row and play a great style of ball.

Texas A&M/BYU-I'm never impressed by schools from the WAC, so I'm taking A&M.

Cal-State Fullerton/Wisconsin-Wisco by 5. Cal-State scores a bunch, but I think this will come out to game management.

Arizona/West Virginia-I've got Arizona, too many athletes, and watch for freshman PG Jerrod Bayless for the 'Cats. He's a good one.

George Mason/Notre Dame-the Fightin' Irish, and it won't be close.

Mississippi Valley St./UCLA-Unless MVSU alum Jerry Rice is catching passes in an alumni touch football game, UCLA will just wear them down, and win by 18.

I'll bitch about the draw Denver got tomorrow morning, along with a review of these picks and preview of tomorrow. Enjoy work!

Leading off with the Governor of NY

Eliot Spitzer--What a sad, torrid state of affairs. What's worse to me is that his wife stands by her man, even after information comes out that he was trying to go bareback. What the hell? It's bad enough that you got your political chops busting prostitution rings, but then to be caught in one yourself, perhaps even paying up to $80,000 for these services, and then trying to do so without a condom. I'm convinced this woman is a nimrod. I'll never understand cheating, but if you're going to do that, at least have the common decency to wrap it up. Come on, man!!
And now the NY Times has outed her. Fantastic. Look, I won't sit here and get all preachy, but shouldn't someone be protecting this girl?
I do appreciate the fact that our lovely liberal media in this country felt the need to bury the fact that this guy is a Democrat on the 8th paragraph!!! Funny, when Senator Larry Craig, he of bathroom stall floor tapping fame, was outed, his "R-Idaho" was right there up front. But there's no media bias, just remember that.
I've also decided that I love how immoral we've become as a society. This is phenomenal. Everywhere I turn my TV to, it seems like no one is judging this guy for hiring a prostitute. And I wouldn't either, since it's one of my platform issues in my campaign to become President in 2012. The problem is that he's cheating on his wife with a hooker you dolts!!! Yes, prostitution is currently illegal. And he should be prosectuted, if only for the fact that he charged it on his Visa. I can't believe his wife stands next to him. I'd say more, but someone else can do it for me.

There is plenty of other news to get to, so here's my thoughts (buckle up, it's about to get loud and bumpy):
Geraldine Ferraro, she of past failed efforts at being the VP of this great Nation, has resigned being an advisor for the Clinton campaign, but only after she got called a racist. God Bless this country. If you don't like someone's politics and they are black, and you're white, you're a racist. What a friggin' country. Well, call me a racist now, then. I'm not voting for Obama. But not because he's black, or not even because he might have been raised Muslim. Nope, it's that I don't agree with his policies, or at least what he's trying to get going. I don't agree with spending any more of this country's money on the UN. Not one more red cent should go to that organization. As a matter of fact, if anyone could state that they are done funding that group of crooks they'd go a long way to getting my vote. But now there's this other little thing of who Barack gravitated towards as a student, and that would be some seriously strong-minded Communist professors. Look it up, I can't do all the research. But apparently if I don't vote for Obama, I'm a racist now. I love these ass-clowns who come up with this crap. I've heard it on CNN and MSNBC, it's beautiful in its simplicity. It comes along to the effect that "those white males that don't vote for Obama just aren't ready for an African-American to be President." Not it at all. You couldn't be more wrong. You could try, but I don't think you'd succeed. Show me a black candidate that thinks along the same lines as me, and he'll get my vote. I could care less if he's purple. Those in the media ought to be ashamed of themselves anyways. 9 months ago they were touting Shillary, and now, they can't get enough of Obama. Apparently they're progressive, and me with my morals and ideas are too simplistic to be able to think outside the "box of color". And people wonder why newspaper subscriptions and mainstream TV nightcasts are in the toilet? Wonders never cease to amaze me....

Interesting article by John Stossel about what happens when lawmakers fail to see the forest through the trees.

Kids in Boulder...after reading this, I want to ask them something-"What jobs of yours are they taking? Are you going to work for $.50 for 5 lbs of peaches in the Colorado summer sun?" Someone needs to beat this miscreants.

I've been talking to some of my friends about Feminism, and how I think that while it has helped in certain areas, it may have had some consequences that were not foreseen, interesting read.

Sometimes I wonder what the life of an athlete is like, especially when they get away with crap like this. You or I would be in jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

I love hometown newspapers....only there could you get this type of reaction to Shelley Duncan's bush-league spikes up slide into someone's groin region. Maybe Bud Selig can pull himself away from his stacks of cash to lay the smack down on this D-Bag. If you don't get that reference, it was announced yesterday that 'proud to be your' Bud made $14 Million last year. Must be nice. Hey, I can turn a blind eye to people pumping themselves full of horse testosterone and call an All-Star game a tie, too....how 'bout $80K/year??

Okay, I don't usually back things that start crossing on people's personal freedoms, but if you've ever been behind one of these kids at 7-11 or worse on a bus or train to work, I think you'll be all for this as well. Here ya go, kid, it's called a bar of soap, now get your stankin' ass in the shower already!

Here's a little journalism tip for CNN--when trying to gauge how tough the economy is on the public, try and avoid the nitwit 30 yr old who's still in retail!!! Or the 25 yr old you just know graduated from Dumbass U....where do you find these idiots? I've been out of work since October, and just last week had to finally dip into my own savings. And I'm no genius.

Happy Wednesday to you....There will be more later this week.

Free Agency and some real news

Okay, so here's my take on Free Agency thus far:

Jacksonville, I have no idea what you are trying to do. They've traded for Troy Williamson, signed Jerry Porter, traded away Marcus Stroud. So, unless they are going to start running 5 WR sets, I really can't call them winners. Most importantly because they traded away Stroud for 60 cents on the dollar. He would have been part of a stud rotation of DT's. I'll call it incomplete for now, but I don't get it.

Minnesota, you overspent big time in free agency...again. Look, I know they signed G Steve Hutchinson a few years ago, and that was a great signing, but the 2 big ones so far this year don't make a whole bunch of sense to me. Madieu Williams is now one of the highest paid safeties in the league, and I think the Vikings have let Corey Chavous go....Cincinnati didn't want Williams anymore, so why make him one of the highest paid guys in the league? And then they overspent on Bernard Berrian. The guy doesn't have reliable hands, is great on the "go" route, and that's about it. He's an overpaid Bethel Johnson. Yes, you took him away from a division rival, but you already have Sidney Rice, who you should've given a chance to be your #1 guy. He's got the skills, look at what happened when you put him on the field last year. The signing of FB Thomas Tapeh and letting go of Tony Richardson is a slight upgrade, only because Tapeh knows the system from being with Head Coach Brad Childress in Philly and Richardson is 36, not a whole lot of tread left on those tires.

Ah, Cincy....when will it ever start? First, news comes out this week that there actually was a punch thrown by Ocho Stinko at HC Marvin Lewis in their last playoff game, about 3 years ago. Nice....I'm seriously telling anyone who will listen, until that guy is off the team, they won't win a damn thing. Losing him would be the definition of "addition by subtraction". They let Justin Smith go, which is fine, he was overpaid to do nothing. Also let Madieu Williams go. Fine. But to sign Antwan Odom and not try and get anyone to patch up the middle of that piss-poor run D? Plenty of able bodies out there, and they do nothing.

Big Ben's contract. I'll just say that while it looks huge right now, give it 3 years and it will be peanuts. The salary cap keeps going up and up and up. I don't mind the contract...but who's going to block for the guy???

Cleveland has done great, as far as I'm concerned. On paper, vastly improved. Trading for Shaun Rogers and Corey Williams will be a very wise day to be looked upon down the road. I can only hope that HC Romeo Crennel can light a fire under Rogers. If he can, we're talking top 5 in the league type DT. And the Browns have also managed to re-sign Jamal Lewis and Derek Andersen. Then add Donte Stall worth. Their 3-wide attack will look like Jamal Lewis in the backfield with Braylon Edwards and Stallworth on the outsides, Joe Jurevicius in the slot and Kellen Winslow at TE. I don't know of a defense in that division that could handle it. Right now, provided everyone stays healthy, they are my pick to win the division and host a playoff game. Oh, how much fun will that be in Cleveland??!

As far as the Patriots are concerned, I love this whole "the sky is falling" from certain media types, some especially on the Worldwide Leader. They lost Samuel, they lost Gay, they cut Colvin, Stallworth left, what's going to happen? Well, they did keep that Randy Moss fella, and he's pretty damn good. As for the rest, let me first state that the Pats keep doing what they do, and do it well because their front office assigns a value to each position. It's why they let Lawyer Milloy go a few years ago, and Ty Law, too. Asante was only going to get so much from New England, so they let him go. My only gripe with it is Samuel stating in his press conference in Philly that he just wanted to go back to a Super Bowl? Really? Then why not try and tough it out with a team that just went 18-1? Or why go to Philly, the only team in the NFC East not to make the playoffs? Just say it's all about the money, we get it. As for losing Gay, please, I like him, but he could never stay on the field, he's consistently hurt. Stallworth was on a one year deal, he did well, we appreciate the services, but the Pats have Chad Jackson waiting in the wings. He'll be coming off of a torn ACL in last years AFC Championship game, so he ought to be ready to prove why the Pats spent a 2nd round pick on him a couple of years ago. As for Rosie, I loved him, but he kept getting hurt, too. And not the nagging type of injuries...He busted his hip a few years ago, and broke his foot this year. Besides, the Pats don't need another LB over 30.
The Pats won't break any other points record next year, and they may even go 13-3 (Heaven forbid), but there's a plan in place. I think that they will take a DE/OLB hybrid with that #7 pick, maybe Vernon Gholston from Ohio State...and if that's the case, losing Rosie won't be a loss at all.

Quickly, an NCAA update. I hope the 'Cuse is in, Indiana looks terrible and damn near certain to be bounced in the 1st round of the tourney, and my shocking/notsomuch pick to make the Elite 8 is Vanderbilt. Just a big dougnut gut feeling.

As for news...well, if this ol' world ain't getting a little bit more F'ed up every damn day....

Thank God I'm bald, or else I might've been dumb enough to let this bitch cut my hair!

Not sure how I feel about this, but I will say that someone in Boulder, CO finally may have said something halfway intelligent. Is this a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of argument? I really don't have the foggiest idea, but it's something that needs to be discussed. I don't think they have this type of problem in other countries. Granted, those other countries have their own messed up crap to deal with, but is underage drinking one of them? And I'm sure someone has done a study on what has really happened since the drinking age has gone from 18 to 21, but I'd like to know the amount of underage fatalities...that's just me.

Why am I not hearing about this until I find it for myself? This is nowhere on the news!!! See what happens when criminals shoot at schools when someone else is armed? Less loss of life. Bet those kids at Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois would want to know about this.

In other news, I have a few job interviews lined up, so I'm hoping someone realizes how freakin' awesome I am and hires me. I won't ask for your prayers, but if you put me in them, thanks. The reason I don't ask is because you've got your own stuff to deal with.

I did an open mic night a few days ago, and it went pretty well. Well enough that I'm going back, how's that? I wasn't the best one there, but I know I wasn't the worst. I suppose I should take this a little more seriously and try and write some stuff out instead of trying to go up and wing it. That does not work out so well. I feel for those who got stage-fright, there really is nothing you can do other than support them. I've been there, it's real lonely. Amazing what a 12-inch platform does to us, huh? I'll keep this blog posted with what happens, kind of when it happens.

And lastly, if the NYC police department finds that little bastard on a bike who bombed the military recruitment office in Times Square, I say string him up by his balls and gut him right in public. I'm done with so called 'activists' doing whatever the hell they want without recourse. It's about time to pay the piper.

Happy Week coming up to all...and remember, St. Patty's Day is just around the bend.....

well, now, isn't this just special

The story of Scott Spiezio, just sad
Just goes to show you that this type of stuff happens to everyone, athletes included. I'd like for anyone reading this to note the middle pictures and go to #8, Glen Rice. First, the picture of his wife....DAMN!!! Now, he's arrested on a felony battery charge after police say he beat a man he found in his estranged wife's closet. What is he supposed to do.."Hey, fella, thanks for coming over and plowing the wife. Can I get you a beer?" The cops should've said 'Damn, straight' and then taken his wife out to the car where she could have stayed in a holding cell overnight. Dumb bitch, don't you know you don't cheat in your own house??? Or am I the only other person that figured that out watching Cinemax??!!!!!

The Kobe/LeBron debate. Man, is this fun or what? I know not everyone watches the NBA, and honestly, I hadn't watched in probably a good 4 years. But this summer happened, and with the C's getting KG and Ray Allen, well, I had to watch. My tattoo told me to or else it would develop into that stupid Lucky Charms guy. Anywho, if you have nothing to do and either LeBron or Kobe is playing, please, watch. To compare the two is to compare a boxer and a puncher. Kobe is the boxer, LeBron the puncher. Kobe is a basketball player playing basketball. LeBron is an athlete that plays basketball. LeBron is a ridiculously chiseled 23 yr old, 6'9" 260. If you saw any of the highlights of what he did to the Knicks, The Destroyer did something that hasn't been done in some 30 years. 50 points, 10 assists and 8 boards. The kid is only 23!!!! Here's a decent highlight reel of what he did Wednesday night. As for Kobe, he destroyed Dallas last Sunday, with 52, and it looked way too easy, and please note that he missed 7 free throws.
The debate is great, I hear it all the time and it reminds me of all the stuff my friends and I used to argue about, LT/Reggie White, Emmitt/Barry, Jordan/Bird/Magic, and the ever popular Great Taste/Less Filling. Who would you rather start your team with? Finally a decent sports debate can be had at the bars again.

With NCAA tourney time fast approaching, it appears as though, right now, at 11:04 PM MST, that my boys will not be in the tourney for the second year in a row. If that is the case, it sucks, but the coach has only himself to blame. Let me just say that the reason Syracuse is my favorite team, and will always be my squad, is because of Sherm. That's right, Sherman Douglas. He was the first guy I saw all the time trying to run and toss up an alley-oop. It's still one of my favorite plays. Back to my point. Jim Boeheim can only blame himself. Syracuse needs a huge win tomorrow vs. Marquette to even potentially be in the conversation, but only because of how badly he blew it last Saturday.
Up by 11 on a senior laden Pitt squad, he had all the pistons firing. Finally, Donte' Greene, Paul Harris and Jonny Flynn were all hitting, at the same time. They couldn't miss. They were running Pitt out of the building. The Carrier Dome was rockin'. You couldn't have asked for a better scenario, and then it happened, like it has so many other times. Boeheim played not to lose, as opposed to playing to win. It's a very minor distinction, but once you switch during a game, you cannot go back, it's like a point of no return. So what happens? Pitt goes on an 18-2 run, that's what happened!! I hate this style of basketball, mind you. You have a very young ballclub that is beating the bejesus out of a team and you step off the gas pedal, thinking you'll coast to a victory. Pitt scored two quick baskets to take it to a 7 point Syracuse lead and then out of a timeout Syracuse tried to rev that engine back up, but to no avail. I really hope this didn't cost them a chance at the tourney, because Greene was finally starting to get it, get just a little bit smarter with his shot selection, the team was making mistakes, but the good kind, not the lazy kind. And Jim Boeheim kind of brain-farted it away....maybe.

A quick commentary about pop culture, and then back to sports, I swear. I keep reading about one of the contestants of American Idol was a male stripper. Yeah, so?? Who cares what this kid did before he became a contestant? It's not like he sold crack to a kindergarten class. I love how some folks get all holier than thou while their own kids are in the garage sniffing glue, huffing spray paint or stumbling upon dad's kiddie porn. This is your big to-do, bitch about a kid who took his clothes off for money? Hey, if someone wants to see my fat ass for $5, please, send your donation and a self-addressed stamped envelope to my address and I bet you get a picture in the mail in 7-10 business days.

Just in case anyone wants to see Rajon Rondo's sweet ass dunk from the win over the pistons the other night, I've got it. Just go to the 1:34 mark. There are a couple of replays of it afterwards, too. I'm giddy with delight, the C's have a point guard, their first since the days of Sherm and John Bagley (that's right, I said it!).

Welcome back, Birdman. Sorry, but the music to this made me laugh. Maybe white guys shouldn't dunk, hmmm?

Did anyone else catch Dirk Nowitzki's takedown earlier in the week? Here it is, in case you missed it. Now, Dirk was suspended for a game, but that got me to thinking....isn't it about time in these pro leagues to start handing out real suspensions? In a case like this, shouldn't Nowitzki have to stay out as long as the guy he clubbed? I know this could be open to interpretation, but when the soft German has to pick on a notoriously soft Russian, can't the NBA just suspend Dirk for a week at least....just for the principalities involved??!

Since I'm still unemployed, I now get the joy of watching Spring Training baseball. Hell, I love baseball and I'm in 2 fantasy leagues this year (guarantee I suck in both of them), so it's nice to see how things are looking this early. I got to watch the Yankees and the Twins. All was going along pretty normally until Joba Chamberlain decided to get stupid. He gave up a towering dinger to some guy we've never heard of and probably won't make the Twins opening day roster. But that didn't stop ESPN the mag's "NEXT" athlete from doing the douche move...he plunked the next guy on the ankle with the very next pitch. Hey, dildo, it's spring training! This is where you're supposed to give up the taters, whilst you work on your changeup and spotting pitches. I hate this guy, hate his whole story and how the NY media will be blowing him and his Dad forever and ever. If he played for the Sox (White or Red) he'd be called a punk. I'll just call him a douche hayseed from Nebraska.

And if you missed this, it's well worth 30 seconds of your time...wait until the end, classic hi-five!

Lastly for this evening, there is a person in Congress who wants to drop the Roger Clemens investigation, because he fears it will embarrass Roger. I say tough shit. If you want to go after Barry Bonds, Jason Grimsley and Miggy Tejada all gung-ho, than sorry pal, but one of your favorite players who just so happened to play for a team in your district (cue the sarcasm...and the hypocrisy!!!) ought to get the same scrutiny, right? I mean, for fairness sake. Shockingly enough, the guys last name is Weiner...whoda thunkit?

Have a great weekend!

Lots of stuff..well, some of it

So I've got a bunch of stuff to get to, and there are some links along the way....

I will still get to my free agent update/review over the weekend, but I have to comment on the amount of dumb money Oakland is throwing around. If anyone knows a guy playing DB in the league, rest assured if they play in a Super Bowl, there's a good chance Oakland will overpay you. Larry Brown won an MVP 12 years ago by having Neil O'Donnell throw him 2 passes in Super Bowl 30, and Gibril Wilson played well for the Giants a few weeks ago. So the Raiders go and make him the highest paid safety in the game. He's not even the best safety in his division, but the Raiders are apparently going to have to overpay to get anyone to show up for them. Ever since they got rid of their old GM, Bruce Allen, they have made some very questionable decisions. They just signed WR Javon Walker to a huge deal yesterday. It's too much money for a receiver that is going to be a cancer in yet another locker room, and more than one team of doctors has stated that he will need microfracture surgery on the same knee that's already been operated on three times. He's not even 30 yet. Now, I think Javon needs a change of scenery, his best friend died in his arms a little over a year ago when Darrent Williams was shot in a limo on New Years Eve, 12/31/06.
The Raiders have also managed to spend money on Tommy Kelley, a good but not great D-Lineman, who had all of 1 sack last year and is coming off of a torn ACL. Al Davis, my number is not that hard to find, I've got a degree in Accounting, I've got me and some people that can run your scouting department and be your capologist. I can make your team a winner. Al, you need to get out of the way for that to happen.

This whole Knicks/Isiah Thomas/Stephon Marbury baloney is beyond comical. Isiah Thomas has made a mockery of one of the storied franchises in the NBA. It's really tragic. The will be over the cap until 2010, easily. He's a horrid coach, and an even worse GM. And now there is this drama, stuff that isn't even discussed or brought up on a teenager's MySpace account. The backstory is that Stephon Marbury is hurt and will be out for the rest of the season. Isiah told him not to show up to MSG for home games anymore. He's a distraction. I love this more than anyone could ever possibly know. Isiah has run 3 different businesses into the ground, was involved in a sexual harassment scandal and now tells his crazy shoot-first point guard don't show up to the Garden? Wow. Good Luck, Zeke, you're gonna need it getting another job, provided Knicks CEO James Dolan actually fires you. Or his daddy takes away the company from him.

I'll let ESPN and the NFL Network gush over Brett Favre and his retirement this week. The guy I want to say a big thanks and buh-bye to Warren Sapp. Warren made the decision to retire on the same day that Favre decided to retire. Sapp only ever did one thing in his career that I couldn't stand, and that was a cheap shot to Green Bay LT Kyle Clifton on an interception. Other than that, Warren had a motor like none other, and has a Super Bowl ring to top off a great career. I can only hope that when Favre gets inducted into Canton, that Warren Sapp is right next to him.

I'll have more tomorrow, I'll explain later!

just stuff

Hello to all 4 of my faithful readers. I don't have a whole bunch to report, other than to tell you to look out next Monday for a review of who's done what in Free Agency in the NFL.

Brett Favre is retiring, now who will John Madden, Chris Berman, and Peter King get to fawn over? My bet is they'll be blowing the Manning Clan and Brady for the next 5 years. Great, now I get to get sick of Tom Brady...I don't think so. God Bless the mute button on my remote.

In political news, Shillary won big yesterday. And I love that SNL lambasted so-called journalists for their kid-gloves treatment of Obama. Maybe now someone will ask him "HOW?" he plans to change the world. He wouldn't get my vote regardless, but anyone that wants to send more money to the UN definitely lends no credibility in my world.

This election will once again come down to a puke-fest. By that I mean, would you rather puke on your shoes or in your mouth? That's what all of these candidates have going for them. I'm not intrigued by any one of them. And it would be so simple to run their campaigns:

Shillary: "I Made a mistake staying with that schmuck, it was for political reasons, I'm sorry. I do crave power and think I can lead this nation to the promised land. My opponent has no political clout, he's brought nothing to the table as a Senator, but keeps mentioning change." Pretty easy to me.

Obama:"Do you want it to stay the same? How's it been for you in the last 20 years with either a Bush or a Clinton in the White House? Vote for Change (pause while fat white woman faints in the background)". Done and Done.

McCain: (seriously, this guy should just take off his shirt and show the scars from when he was a POW-can't get much stronger of a message than that) "Look at my economic policy, it's more money in your pocket and less government. We screw everything up, look at Social Security! I don't want us to give away Health Care, because it means less options for you and more money out of your paycheck. You earned it, so you keep it!"

And to think, not one person has called me to help their campaign.

Happy Wednesday!
