Lots of stuff to get to today:
Caucusing, and it's lovely effect-
Okay, so I've waited an extra 2 days here, but after listening to people blab on and on about this caucusing, or Super Tuesday, or whatever the heck this is called, my reactions are as follows:
Obama is charismatic as all get out, and I can see why people will vote for him. He's got charm and is a hell of a speaker, he can rally people. But he wants to give more money to the teachers union, not such a good idea, and it looks like pandering to me. I watched his speech and was impressed until he spoke of teachers, and how we have to make health care and education easily affordable. But he never stated how he'd do that. He also mentioned tax cuts for the rich that they never asked for. Au contriere. Big Time. Here's a little lesson for you, and feel free to look it up to challenge me if you'd like. The top 2% of earners in this country pay around 40% of the taxes. And you want to take away more of their money?? Oh, and rich is described as any household making over $364K. Sorry, but that ain't rich. So I have to ask Obama how he proposes to pay for all these programs, with the money he takes from the top, again?
And while we're at it, I'd like to address a question to the lovely media most people watch. How come McCain, Romney and Huckabee are battling for the conservative vote but Obama and Hillary aren't battling for the liberal vote? You just don't hear that word. It's been a bone of contention with me for quite some time, but I'm tired of people with 'R' in front of their name being treated on TV like a pariah or like they belong to some wacko cult but people with 'D' in front of their name have nothing said about the groups they might belong to. And while we may all think that Hillary is a liberal, she's got nothing on Obama.
Democrats are fractured. It's that simple. You've got those who are voting for change, the Obama supporters, and those that want to whack your paycheck until it bleeds, voting for Hillary. Kind of funny to watch. Why???...
Hillary cried again. That's right boys and girls, and some of you fell for it, again. She cried at Yale, just like she welled up in NH at a restaurant. This is who you want in office??? What the hell is going to happen when this country is attacked again? She'll talk to us with a box of Kleenex from the Oval Office? I can't fathom why anyone would vote for her, she harbors a rapist, is in a sham marriage, cries on cue, and is like the freakin' Gestapo when you accuse her of something, completely abusing executive privilege. But Dems, please oh please let her win your nomination. I assure you it won't go well for her before the elections. The crap that will come out will make what the Swift Boat Veterans did to John Kerry look like a birthday party invitation.
Republicans are in big trouble. It's a matter of simple math. Look at the numbers. They are not good, because they have no one to look to. It's more of the same old crap. They don't have anyone to rally around, no new ideas, no one that stokes a passion in the voter pool. Everyone is looking at these guys like their uncle that tells the same 3 stories at Thanksgiving. We've heard it all before. Come up with something new, please. Or better yet, could we maybe not have the really old guy run? Right now I'd predict a Democrat becoming the next President based on the sheer volume of voter turnout.
If I could Frankenstein the 3 major Republican candidates, I would, and here's how: I'd take McCain's stance on terrorism, he seems to realize that it's still kind of a big deal. You know, national security might be important, and maybe he could get rid of this TSA, which gets a bomb passed thru it on some type of test damn near once a week. I'd take Romney's business acumen. The man can run a business. But that's all I want from him. Money is the only thing this guy doesn't change his mind on. And greed, for lack of a better word, is good. I'd take Huckabee's FairTax. Please, I implore you to read up on it. Not from the NY Times, either. maybe get the book, I think it's $10 in paperback. I love the concept, anything has to be better than jacking my check (when I have one) everytime I get paid.
And I can only hope this type of thing doesn't get me killed, but the fine peaceful folks that follow radical Islam are using retarded women as suicide bombers. Oh, and a woman was tossed in jail for sitting with a man that wasn't related to her at a Starbucks in Saudi Arabia. You stay classy, Osama.
A Mass. teen is under surveillance in jail today after apparently killing his psychotherapist. Well, at least the insanity defense is already written out for him. Someone throw a toaster in this kids bath tub, no one will miss him.
I watched American Gangster on BET last night, it's a show that goes into some depth about certain recent gangsters. Last night's show was on the DC Sniper, very interesting. It's a show that could've lasted 4 hours and I would have watched. But of course the thing that was glossed over was the profiling of this killer. Everyone thought it was a white guy, because white guys are serial killers, not blacks. And it was 2 people, not one. Apparently John Muhammed sits on death row and speaks to no one. Another candidate to get shanked. He's in there with other death row inmates, what do you do to the guy who kills him in prison, make him deader?
A Colorado state lawmaker is in a bit of warm water for calling unwed teen parents a 'derogatory term'. First things first, why can't the news tell me what the word is? I hear nigger everytime I change the channel, and that's okay, but calling an unwed teen a slut or a ho is derogatory? What is the media trying to do, shelter the same kids who'll put a cock in their mouth, amongst other places? Come on, be real here. Guess what we called the girls that we knew were a little, ahem, loose back when I was in high school? Slut, ho, broad, cum-dumpster, or better yet, EASY. Because that's what they were. And probably still are. Sorry, if you going to have sex at that early of an age, and not be smart enough to wrap that rascal, what do you want to be called, a future member of MENSA? Didn't think so.
Britney is free to go...huh? How did this all happen? First she gets taken to a psych ward, then her father is given custodial rights to her life, then she claims her manager/boyfriend drugged her, and then they let her go. Seriously, I want someone to give this girl an uzi and get rid of all the paparizzi. A nice semi-automatic should do the trick. The girl was out maybe five minutes and there are helicopter shots of 12-14 people surrounding her car. Lady, hit the gas pedal. No one is going to say anything. I hate it when someone crowds me in line at the bank or at Safeway, I can't fathom what you deal with.
Roger Clemens may be all done for come next week. He was deposed yesterday and denied once again that he never did steroids. But his former trainer, Brian McNamee, may have syringes with blood and steroids on them from ol' Rocket. This is what as known as a smoking gun. If this were true, along with Clemens' pal Andy Pettitte not denying McNamee's story about Roger, that would mean that the Rocket just lied to Congress. Also known as perjury. Oops. The reason I say a week is because if McNamee does have this evidence, I'm pretty sure this will get a rush job put on it at Langley, CSI-style. I hope Roger likes the color orange, I get this strange feeling that he'll be in a jumpsuit before long---oh, who are we kidding, I'm hoping for it. Asshole football fans want to rub it in that the Pats lost, not even Giants fans, mind you, and yup, I'm bitter about it. I want their so called Yankee in a different type of pinstripes. There, I said it.
Shaq got traded to Phoenix---why, why, why?? Watch Dwayne Wade score 25 a game the rest of the way. Only because there isn't a 325 lb. anchor in his way. I can't see how this would help the Suns, and their offense certainly won't speed up because of this deal. Shaq is breaking down, he's been out for 2 weeks now, he's out of shape, and you want him to run with one of the best fast-breaking PG's we'll ever see? Best of luck. I can't wait to watch Kobe and Pau Gasol pick-n-roll his ass to death. It will be like watching a statue fall.
The Duke/UNC game last night was fun to watch. I have no vested interest in either team. It sucks that UNC was without blazing PG Ty Lawson, but give Duke credit where it is due, they shot 13-27 from 3, and they let Psycho-T (may rank as one of the lamest nicknames ever, seriously) do his thing. Duke has no one that can cover Hansbrough, but it didn't even matter. No one from UNC could knock down a jumpshot, or at least that's how it seemed.
Pedro Martinez is on YouTube watching a cockfight in the Dominican Republic. And??? So what. People want to make this as big as Michael Vick with the dogfighting. Uh-Uh. Nope, not gonna happen. First, cockfighting is legal in the Dominican. Secondly, Pedro was there as a spectator. Third, the loser of said cockfight will be served with hot sauce and blue cheese dressing 1 hour after the loss. I eat chicken. I'm not eating dog. See the difference? Now stop trying to make this a story, it isn't one.
Spygate, or whatever these clowns in the media are calling it these days, will not go away. It's like a freakin' cold sore. Rumors are now out that if the Pats did indeed tape the walk through of the Rams back in 2002 that the defensive coaches back then could be punished now. The coaches then were Crennel, Mangini, and Rob Ryan. So apparently Cleveland, the Jets and Oakland now have to be worried. I call bullshit on this for one simple reason. And we can thank the Senator from Pennsylvania for this one. If Arlen Specter wants to investigate the Pats, he has to open it up to the whole NFL. If he wants to cover this all under the guise of the NFL's anti-trust exemption, then he must ask about the whole league. Including his beloved Eagles. Every team gets the inquisition, not just New England. So, if this is all true, the St. Louis Rams will be investigated as well for a story in the NY Times from 2002 which stated to the effect that the Rams may have taped the Pats practice in New Orleans. Oops, didn't see that one coming, now did you? Be careful what you wish for.
The kid in Nevada who made up his recruiting story. In case you haven't heard about this lowlife, here's the deal: Kid from Nevada states that he's going to Cal, except Cal has never heard of him. Could be because he's not D1 material, just maybe. Anyhow, kid states that he was choosing between Cal and Oregon, he can't believe he's been duped by this so called recruiter. Well, after a few days of having a lot of people feel bad for the kid, come to find out he made it all up. I'm all for imagination, but someone ought to whoop this kid's fat ass. And only for making people feel bad for him. You got people to genuinely feel bad for you. I hope someone chop-blocks you in D3, because you deserve to be maimed.
Bob Knight, I'll miss you. Robert Montgomery Knight resigned as Head Coach at Texas Tech the other day, and I'll miss him. I'll miss him because of all the wusses out there who think he's a bully. He might be. You know what else? So what! He does exactly what a coach is supposed to do, coach and teach. All this rambling on about what he doesn't do, how he's not nice, boo-hoo. How about his graduation rate? Why don't you talk about that? How about how he's put Lubbock, TX on the map and has received all sorts of money in donations to the school? I'll miss him on the sidelines, but thanks to the power of the internet and YouTube, I'll always be able to watch your greatest hits.
Happy Thursday!
