Welcome to the FUKUDOME (can I patent the T-shirt now?)

In the news (if you don't want to read about stuff other than sports, scroll on down, my feeling won't be hurt)..

Students at CU with the soup-here's a link, read it if you want:

Boohoo...we can only eat soup because that's all we can afford...WAH! Well I can't wait until I hear this douche crying on TV because she only got the Whitman's Sampler for Secretary's Day, all the while telling us she's an "executive administrative assistant", because that's all she's going to be capable of with an english degree. Since when did education become free? It's only about $3500 in state. "We can only afford Ramen"....yeah, so? Tell you what, you come over to my place, clean it, and I'll give you $15 and a ham sandwich, fine a veggie burger. I'm tired of listening to people whine about their lives. I have no job, do you hear me bitching about money...nope. "I have to get a job"...again, Yeah, SO? Ask anyone that knew me in college, never read a book and still graduated, and worked at least 40 hours. I swear, I'm going to be able to crap myself and out-earn these pansies when I'm 80, simply based on work-ethic alone...no one will care that I wear Depends and drool at my desk, at least I'm earning money.

South Central LA lawmakers are trying to pass a law to ban more fast food joints from opening up, but it's okay on Rodeo....hmmm, I'm pretty sure that ain't right. It's because their constituency has a high rate of obesity and diabetes. Most of this area is Hispanic and Black. Now I'm not going to sit here and state that those are the only people that are fat, Lord knows you can go to any Wal-Mart or Big Lots and find the Fat White Folk herding around the Hostess end-cap, but we've got a bigger problem here people. Is anyone else tired of government, be it local, state or federal, telling us how to act? Fine, some of the things they've got are okay, like don't murder. But that's in the Bible, too. Stop trying to dictate my behavior, is what I'm saying. So in this case, the Hispanics and Blacks in this district shouldn't be allowed to open a Mickey D's? Because if I'm in that neighborhood, what if I want to open up a BK? Now I can't be a franchiser of an establishment? And don't think white people won't pitch a fit about this either, because I can already hear some snob say that a certain "element" has infiltrated her finely manicured neighborhood because of the new Chipotle Grilled Stuft Burrito @ the Bell, and those fine folks from the 'hood just can't get it. And why, because some government nimrod wants to tell people what to eat and what not to eat. Sorry, if I want a damn #1 then I'll get it, and Super-Size that bad boy, too....I've got heart disease to work on, people.

church shootings in Colorado, and some of the reaction has been atrocious. Face it, I don't work, so I read a ton of stuff online. And I'm sure most of the people that read this out of state have heard of the shootings over this past Sunday that took some lives. Some of the posts on Craigslist and other sites have me a bit skittish. Like some are happy that people who go to church got killed. First things first, the initial shootings happened at a Missionary school, that the shooter was kicked out of some time ago. The second shooting was stopped by a volunteer, not a security guard, as it's been reported by most news sites. A volunteer to work security, who had a license to carry a weapon, shot this man, and then he shot himself and ended his pathetic existence. I know some folks aren't cool with suicide, but if it comes down to killing yourself, or killing a bunch of innocent people and then yourself, do the noble thing and off yourself.
Now I say all of that to get back to what I've read. I'm amazed at the Christian bashing I choose to read. This will, in some odd way, tie to a nugget further down. I really could care less who worships what, so long as it doesn't preach treading on others abilities to worship. You want to pray to William Shatner, knock your socks off. Just don't come into my house of worship and tell me that I have to convert or die, like say, radical Islam. I was born and raised Catholic, so I've got my own crap to deal with, but I certainly don't wish death upon those that choose to assemble to pray to God, like some of the things I've read. Beauty is skin deep, Ugly goes to the soul...and God don't like Ugly.

Based upon the above, and the shooting at a mall in Omaha, Nebraska, I'm brought back to a few weeks ago when I got to hold and fire a gun. I got to hang out with a former co-worker whom I respect a great deal, mostly for his opinions and the way he leads his life. His is a simple life, because that's the way he wants it. I don't mean simple in the 'tard way, but there is no fluff in his life. He's a huge fan of the 2nd Amendment, and I appreciate his reasoning. And I'll tie this story to the Omaha "tragedy" and the one at Virginia Tech this past April. So while he was teaching me the proper technique for holding and firing a .22, we got to talking, and how we were both amazed by those that are anti-gun and who want to take away your rights reasoning and logic for things like Columbine, and the other "tragedies" that have gone on in this country. He told me that since he has a very young daughter, if he ever hears of a gunman in her school, he will be leaving work and taking care of his kid, and if it means that the gunman has to die, so be it. Because the police will only be there to outline the body in chalk if you wait. Want proof? Columbine, what would've happened if any teacher or security there had a weapon. Think Harris and Klebold kill 13 people? Maybe 2, but a funny thing happens to people with a gun when they get one pulled on them. The mall shooting in Omaha and the massacre at Virginia Tech, they are related by one significant fact. Both the mall and the university were "no gun zones"...funny, criminals don't follow the law-hence, they're criminals. If anyone with a conceal and carry permit were in either of these nutjobs vicinity, I'm pretty sure we can knock at least one off dead tally.

Why I don't shop at Target-they won't allow the Salvation Army to stand out in front of their stores and receive donations. Corporate claims it's a political establishment. Huh? So it's okay to have t-shirts for kids with a picture of Mao or Che Guevera but the Salvation Army is political. Did I miss something here? 2 of the biggest proponents of Communism, ever, are okay to be part of the grand merchandising scheme, but a charitable organization is political. Yup, because it isn't part of "Your" politics does it become political. How convenient. Well, you'll no longer get my money, Target. Sorry, but that's how I roll, with my wallet. You should see the other stuff I won't support.....

Man drinking a liter of vodka in security line (in Germany)-true story! A guy is in a security line and is told he'll either have to discard the liter bottle of goodness or get charged for putting it in the cargo hold....so this guy decides to just chug it (I should mention he's 64!!!) and goes into alcohol poisoning shock...Ya don't say! Can't we let people like this just die...it's just his version of natural selection.

Networking event last night and the microphone skills. So I went to this networking event last night, and apparently there is a niche market out there for teaching mic skills in addition to presentation skills. Note to all those that will ever get on a mic, even for a damn price check...hold said mic at least 3-4 inches from your mouth, otherwise people will think you have a speech impediment. And they'll go partially deaf, and people don't like that, I know I don't.

Kevin Dubrow of Quiet Riot died from "an accidental cocaine overdose". How do you know it was an accident? Was there a note...how does a medical examiner find out that it was accidental?

Ike Turner has passed away....what did the 5 fingers say to the face? Slap! Just a reminder, Ike was an animal for beating the daylights out of Tina, but OJ's free after killing 2 people. And I'm sure he'll find the real killers in a sand trap any day now......

We've got politicians who will vote on resolutions for Ramadan but not Christmas, and in Colorado, one of these fine people (cue the sarcasm) states that she did this because she is all for the separation of church and state.....really? 8 years ago I voted in a church, you nimrod!! Let's just say I didn't vote for this wench, and I'm fed up with 2 things, 1)the separation of church and state argument, and 2)stating things are okay for one religion and not another....enough! Show me where it states in our Constitution that there should be a separation of church and state. Know why you can't? It doesn't exist!! It states that ONE religion shouldn't be omnipresent over others. And for those that are trying to vote out Christmas (yes, you ACLU), you're losing, and badly. People have had enough. Guess what holiday is 12/25? It's Christmas, you buffoons.

okay, now to sports

Bobby Petrino..really? You're a mercenary, no better than a Roger Clemens. The Rod Tidwell of coaches, so long as they show you the money, which you translate to love. I saw the press conference, and it made me nauseous, and since I could care less about the Falcons or Arkansas, I knew it was genuine illness, not like when I see someone walking around with a Yankees jacket. I'm not shocked you bombed as a head coach in the NFL, just that you couldn't even do the honorable thing and finish the job. And in the process, you've made DeAngelo Hall look like a voice of reason. That guy is an idiot, and yet he came across with WAY more class then you. Can't wait to see you on the Texas A&M sideline in 3 years.

Arthur Blank, the man that ran Home Depot, it's time for a good ol' cleaning of your Falcons house. Bunker mentality. Step one, hire Mike Singletary, and here's why: When he says something, players will do it. You don't fuck with Samurai Mike! The man was the captain on the baddest (Not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning good-Run DMC) defense most of us have ever seen. If a player can't respect SM, then he won't be playing the league for long, anyway.
Don't hire Bill Cowher-you'll be doing what too many companies do, throw good money after bad, when the foundation and processes in which things are done is clearly broken. There is no quick fix, but there is a fix out there....hell, hire me and I'll help! Art, you need to go back and have some frank discussions with your GM, and put together a 1,2,3, and 4 year plan. You've got some players that can play. You've got a really good CB and a decent CB, and some good linebackers on D. You've got a legit #1 WR in Roddy White (stupid t-shirt TD celebration notwithstanding), a Pro Bowl TE in Alge Crumpler, your O-Line isn't atrocious, and a very very fast RB in Jerious Norwood on offense. You've got pieces. Now hunker down and stick with the plan, forget about Michael Vick and the joke that was this year. No one else has ever dealt with anything like this, all at once, so give yourself a mulligan and hit the reset button.

Isiah Thomas has gotten into it with the fans behind the Knicks bench at MSG telling them that the reason they play bad is because the fans don't cheer....uh, have you seen your product lately? Imagine that this guy runs your business, do you hand him a "Closing Soon!" sign with the keys to the establishment? What does it say at the top of his resume-"Turning Gold to crap since '95"? He's bankrupted the CBA, damn near killed the Raptors, made the Pacers into a thuggish crew that couldn't close the deal...and now the Knicks. Zeke, do you have polariods of owner James Dolan in a suggestive pose with barn animals....otherwise, I can't figure out for the life of me how you still have a job.

And I've got a beef with NBA Commissioner David Stern. How can you suspend players for conduct outside of an NBA arena, like Stephen Jackson, but do nothing to the Knicks when they settle a sexual harassment lawsuit for $11.5 million. Doesn't that seem a bit hypocritical? I'm just sayin'....

For Fun, who doesn't want a Fukudome jersey for Christmas....now if he only played in Minnesota....welcome to the, oh nevermind, you'll get my dumb joke in a minute.

The Mitchell report...oooooohhhhh, scary stuff. My 2nd response to this news today will be, "....and?"-because it's not going to really surprise me. My 1st reaction will be, "totally forgot about that guy, but, yeah, I remember him pulling some muscle only Gorilla Monsoon could articulate on the USA network 20 years ago". I'll post the names tomorrow and go thru their statistics....probably with the word "SHOCKING" at the end of each player capsule.

Enjoy Denver @ Houston tonight!
