You may not have been around when the rules were introduced, but that is of no consequence. Ignorance of the law doesn't excuse your failure to follow that law. Now, some laws are subjective, and that's when things get dicey. Not all laws are applied equally. That's part of the joy of humanity. We all know stealing is wrong, but some offenses are worse than others. Snagging a piece of candy from the bulk bin at Piggly Wiggly? Not a big deal to me. Holding up a cashier at a convenience store...well, there's a reason they have a video camera on the register. Not my rules, but pretty easy to follow.
With all of that as a prelude, I now give you the Baltimore Ravens, after losing to the Patriots last night in epic "Duh" fashion----
Bart Scott (on the sideline timeout that negated a play where the Ravens stopped the Patriots on a 4th and short):
"I didn't hear a timeout. That was very convenient."Derrick Mason:
"Allow the players to dictate how the game is going to go, especially the last couple of seconds. It's kind of like basketball. There's three seconds on the clock. Let the guys play ... You are playing against them and then also you have the other guys and it seems you are playing against them, also."Terrell Suggs:
"Everybody is kind of cheering for them to go undefeated and break all the records. They called them the greatest offense on earth. So who knows? ... They made one more play than us and they got a little help."Chris McAllister:
"They just took the crown and put it on their heads."To each of these 'grown men', I have but one answer for all of your complaints...WAHHH. Go cry on some strippers lap. Bart Scott, did you or did you not cost your team 30 yards in penalties after the Pats scored the go-ahead touchdown? Yup, thought that was your grown ass throwing a tantrum in the middle of the field, just like a 4 yr old girl who doesn't get the Barbie she wanted at KB Toys. Oh, and video replays confirm that it was your own D-Coordinator, Rex Ryan, that called the timeout. Even your head coach stated as such at the press conference. But it's convenient. Weren't you damn near crying on the sidelines after your tantrum. After reading a piece on you in SI, I kind of liked you. Now after seeing your true colors, buh-bye. Look kids, that's a professional athlete acting worse than your little sister!!!
And Derrick Mason, please stop, seriously. You tackled Asante Samuel on that heave at the end of the game. Pretty sure that's against the rules.
As for the others, I love it. Baltimore can suck it for the rest of the year, and hang their hat on almost beating the best team in the NFL. At least one player kind of gives them credit.....
"I think," said Ravens nickel cornerback Corey Ivy, "that the 'S' has kind of been ripped off their shirts. I mean, they're a good team and all, an excellent team. Don't get me wrong. But some of the mystique, the feeling they're unbeatable, well … hey, it's the NFL, we're all paid to play hard, and no one is above being beaten, you know? No one."
Uh, Corey, they are unbeatable, hence the 12-0 record. Where do these assclowns go to school. There are no moral victories to get you to a Super Bowl.
And thanks to Kev for the following:
"You can call it an 'escape' if you want, but that's your word," said tailback Kevin Faulk. "To us it's a win, OK? And it's win No. 12, plain and simple."
I haven't turned on the TV yet to hear everyone give their, "Yeah, but...." about the Pats, because I don't have enough aspirin to kill that headache. All I can say about Baltimore is this-they should've won the game. But they didn't lose because of officiating. They didn't close. That's what they will have to live with. They had 3 chances to drive down the field and shut the door on this Patriots team, and they failed. You cannot give Tom Brady that many chances. He's too good for that. I was mad watching the game because the Pats were getting handled on the line of scrimmage, both on offense and defense. That's something they will need to improve on with Pittsburgh coming to the Razor. And the home crowd better be ready. Next Sunday won't be easy, but it ought to be a win if the Pats put forth the effort.
At least I don't have to listen to Ray-Ray whining, but I sure hope he went to Costco last night for a bulk Kleenex buy, you know, for his teammates.....WAHHHH!
