Sean Taylor Tribute-cool, but at what cost to the team? In case you didn't see it, the first defensive play from scrimmage, the Redskins only had 10 men on the field. I thought this was awesome, touching, whatever you want to call it. It cost the team nothing, other than the biggest play all game, 22 yards. Better than that, the players didn't come out until after the 4 minutes jumbotron tribute to Taylor. These guys are a mess right now, and since none of our grieving gets viewed on TV, I thought all of these guys held up pretty well. We'll see how they are on Thursday night vs the Bears after they bury their teammate today.
In the, "hey, you know what, you're excused" department, Joe Gibbs gets a pass. Only because I'm not a Redskins fan, so I have no idea what it's like to be one for the last week. The only time I remember a player on any of my favorite teams dying way too early was Len Bias, and I was 10, so my thoughts have changed on the subject (I think). Gibbs tried to call back-to-back timeouts to ice the opposing kicker. It could have cost his team the win, because you can't do that, and it gave the Redskins a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that made the 51 yard attempt a 36 yd attempt. The kick was good. I'm not saying that the Bills kicker would've missed from 51, but it was pouring.
Back to cool coaching moments, I remember Jerry Tarkanian starting 6 seniors at UNLV on senior night. This was back when UNLV was feared and lost to Duke in the Final Four that year. But I remember a reporter asking Tark after the game why he did it, and his reply was something along the lines of those kids busted their butts, and they deserve the recognition. Who cares that they start the game off with a bench technical? And I think they won by 30 anyways. There are times to break the rules, and that hurts no one.
Does AJ Feeley know that Lofa Tatupu isn't on his team? Feeley threw 4 picks yesterday, and 3 went right into the hands of Mosi's kid. Now, if Lofa was a TE for the Eagles, they were great throws, otherwise, can you fine fans in Philly zip it for awhile about McNabb being done? You'll be hating life next year when he's the QB in Chicago leading them to a division title...I'm just sayin'...
To the woman in Missouri who helped a 13 yr old girl commit suicide, I hope your soul rots in purgatory forever and ever. You have no remorse, no scruples. You made a fake MySpace page as a boy, became this girls boyfriend, then dumped her and put nasty messages on the 'net. The girl committed suicide not 20 minutes after reading some of these messages, and her parents found her in her bedroom. We've heard no apology from you. Yet because Missouri had no cyber harassing laws at the time, you will get off scott-free. Lady, karma is a bitch, and you just put a big ol' bullseye on your back for the rest of your natural born life. I'm all for parents being involved in their childrens life, but you took it way too far and decided to play with the emotions of a girl your daughter used to be friends with. Reading about this makes me sick. The fact that there will be no justice for this girls parents makes me furious.
Peter King and the NFL need to tread lightly on the subject of gun ownership. Chris Samuels has now stated that in light of this tragic event of Sean Taylor being shot in his own home he will go thru the proper procedures for owning a gun. King thinks this is a tragedy. Really? How about when 4 thugs show up and break into your home, even when they think no one is home? Shouldn't you protect your home, your family? I myself do not own a home, but I can tell you this is for certain, once the ink is dry on any paperwork I sign on home ownership, the very next purchase will be that of a firearm. I don't understand who Peter King thinks he is. Since when does he get to stand in moral judgement of those that own, legally, mind you, a firearm. And only for protection? For that matter, what right does the NFL have telling these men not to own guns? I'm sure I'm missing something here, but it seems a bit too Big Brother for me.
If Sean Taylor had a gun as opposed to a machete, maybe he'd be alive today. Maybe he wouldn't. But the day a man doesn't have the right to defend his right to private property will be a sad day in this country. We've got enough problems.
The Debil-Woman---so Saturday night I was at a little party in my Aunt's old neighborhood, and I met the definition of the Debil-Woman. This is the woman every man fears marrying. Look, I'm fine with never "wearing the pants" in my relationships. My father gave me great advice years ago, "I've seen the boss' job description, and I don't want it." My Mom runs our family, but not with an iron fist, and not with those not-so-subtle little quips. The reason this lady is now, and will always be referred to, as Debil-Woman, is because of these types of things....she's teaching her 16 year old daughter that it's okay to lie to her boyfriend. Not about anything big, but isn't the big lesson here that it's okay to be shady? Fine by me, but I know the repercussions of this type of mentality...she's going to get cheated on in college. They are not my rules, it's just the way the world works. And then the capper came....people were talking about their anniversaries, and one of the women didn't know. She flipped! "You need to know that information so you can hold it over your husband's head!"--Is this what it's come to? Really? Men, be warned, there are more of them out there than you will ever know. Have a friend like me around to keep you away from them. Screw 'em and maybe even watch a movie with them, but don't you dare marry them. Or else you'll look like the Debil-Woman's husband--soulless, lifeless, and no more fight in him...just worn out. So sad. Consider this a cautionary tale.
Have a great day!
