The crap on my couch...

So by now everyone has seen the hit that knocked Trent Green out. A legal clip where he took a knee to the head, trying to cut block someone not looking. Having been home all day, I've seen the hit at least 10 times, and I've had to read and listen to people state how classless the guy that got hit, Travis Johnson, is-for taunting a knocked out Green. Are you people that clueless??

I read Monday Morning QB, by Peter King, every Monday, and while I usually appreciate the insight, he's way off on this one. Here is his take--

Goat of the Week

Houston DT Travis Johnson. I don't care how angry you are. Green's block on Johnson was a legal play, according to the NFL rule book, and for Johnson to first taunt an unconscious man and then continue the tirade after the game ... that is low.

Peter, yes, it was a legal hit. But I happen to agree with Mike Golic on this one. Golic thinks that this ought to be brought up to the competition committee, and I'm all for it. Mr. King, you have no idea what it's like to get cut blocked, not looking for something at your knee. As of this afternoon, Johnson was scheduled to get an MRI on the knee that was hit because he hears and feels a "clicking". As someone that's blown out an ACL by someone doing something stupid in sports, I think I've got a better clue on this one than some sportswriter, King couldn't be more wrong. He has no idea how he'd react to his livelihood almost being taken from him. Believe me, if Trent Green had laid that block and didn't knock himself out and blew Johnson's knee out, would be talking about it today??? I doubt it, highly.

What the heck is up with all these players getting hurt? There were 3 QB's that went down, some for weeks, some for plays. And backup RB's were huge yesterday...for Indy, New England and St. Louis. I really hope people get healthy, because while I appreciate depth on teams, I want to see the studs.

Hey Steve Levy on ESPN, I can hear you thru my "mute" button.....Stop yelling, that's what they have an audio booth at the Worldwide Leader for. Or did you think I couldn't hear you from Bristol, CT?

San Diego just ran all over Denver yesterday....and I still have to hear how the Broncos have a great pass defense. Uh, who cares?? They gave up over 200 yards rushing yesterday, and the stadium was empty after the 3rd quarter. Happy trails at the end of the year, Shanahanigans.

So my new favorite thing to listen to this morning is that the Patriots have beaten no one compared to the Colts. Like the Pats have any say in how their schedule gets made. The Pats have beaten all opponents by at least 17 in 5 games. Indy barely escapes Tennessee. And I was pretty sure that in week 2 when they annihilated San Diego that they were a favorite to win the whole thing....or did I miss that, too? We'll see what happens next week when they go down to Dallas.

One last thing....I was watching ESPN's pregame yesterday (as I'm apt to do), and twice yesterday I had to have global warming thrown at me. Here's a hint, Mr. Berman--if I wanted your political views, I'd ask for them. Just because it's balmy in Buffalo doesn't mean there is global warming. Remember, hippy, that 30 years ago Newsweek was having cover stories about global cooling. Keep your political opinions to yourself, or follow former ESPN anchor Keith Olbermann to MSNBC and some piss-poor ratings.

I'm outta here until tomorrow, where I assure you I will post something.
